I hope this thread gets moved out of the AF100 subforum soon! :undecided

. . .and I'm certain that you and everyone else here are inundated with RFQs from potential clients wanting us to shoot resolution charts for them.
Exactly! I'll be shooting mostly 1080 with it and a 64BG card gives you 55 minutes with 4:1 compression. Sounds like P2 right?
why would it? 1DX is a stills camera with all those AF and high resolution megapixel.I don't think the c300 would've been anywhere close to $7k. It would cannibalize sales of the 1DX. Thats their problem, too many competing products and divisions. Look at the new DSLR they teased - completely different from anything they plan to release.
I'm trying to take as an objective look at the Scarlet-X as I possibly can. I have an AF100 and a 7D, and I'm doing OK. There are some things about my work that would definitely be improved with a Scarlet-X. And there are some things about the AF that I would really miss.
I'm using a dumb Canon mount on the AF now. The Canon mount ........
The only thing that will stink in shooting 2k is the sensor crop of like 50%. That'll crop your FOV by about 50% compared to shooting 4k. It takes things down to like a 2/3chip equivalent. As I've thought about it more, I would basically be stuck in 4k if I wanted to keep a good FOV...HDRx would have to be used only on special shots. :/
Some people at reduser are saying it might be possible to shoot in 4k and use an external recorder to capture and compress at 2k. This would solve the crop and DOF issues as well as allow one to use cheap media for recording. I guess we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, I'll keep shooting on my AF-100.
It works on the Epic...don't see why it wouldn't work on the Scarlet.
Also, there is no way that the image from 2k or 3k could be recorded as anything other than a windowed crop. It's recording RAW sensor data, so if it's recording full-sensor, it has to record every pixel's data.
