Ok I am going crazy please help :)

Hey everybody, I am a bit confused about my current workflow. I have a project that was recently shot on 2 sony v1u's in 24p (Not 24pa) and an HMC 150 in 720 24p.

I am using Final Cut Studio 2 on an octo core mac with 10g of ram.

My question is this: How do I get all these clips conformed to the same frame rate and usable on a 24p timeline? I know I probably need to use Cinema tools which I have never even opened, can somebody give me some insight on what to do here? Do I need to conform everything to 23.97 after capture and if so, how exactly do I do that in Cinema tools?

Thank you in advance, I have been editing for years and thought I knew what I was doing but I guess not :)

I believe the V1U can't record 24pN... I think it only embeds 24p within 60i, right? If so, you'll either have to edit on a 60i timeline, or use Cinema Tools to strip out the pulldown. Once you do that, they should all be usable on the same timeline, but then again I'm not an FCP user so if I got any of this wrong, hopefully someone will come along and correct it.

Thanks Barry, when it comes to the hmc 150, it shoots native 24p so there should be no need to do anything but throw it on a 24p timeline is this correct?

Technically you could have a ProRes project file that would have ingested all the footage and transcoded it during capture to ProRes.

Did you digitize the HDV footage to prores or did you bring it in as HDV? I think you can only bring the HMC150 footage as prores...though i could be wrong.
