Ok, 1 more wedding

Hey everybody,
I know that you have seen a million wedding demos here but I have just finished this new one (well half of it) and wanted to share. There is only one shot from the DVX. It is the shot of the dafodils in front of the wedding dress (I shot this in our bedroom with my wifes dress and flowers from the yard). The rest of the footage is from a JVC DV500. I sold that camera and got the DVX and am itching to try it out. Let me know what you think.

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

Whtie balance off.
Need to have list 2 wireless mics, one on groom, one on priest.
Transition from color to black and white need to be removed. Exept if you want to tell that after marrige all life is black and white. Dark, need more light, add black diffusion, and soft filter. Color correction,to match yellow.
Slowmotion on walking part, it will also help to hide some camera shaking.
Replace sound with music track.
Don't want to be harsh, but this to help, not to depress your work :)

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

Wow, you should have seen the raw footage. Every clip has been color corrected (some for effect) There is a mic on the priest, but I don't know how you would know being that the priest never speaks or is seen on this demo. There was diffusion soft F/X 1 on camera and tweaking in post. I think it is dark for you because you are probably watching on a PC. I should probably adjust that for windows users. Yes, the camera was a bit shaky, that is just one of the various reasons I switched to the DVX. The JVC was a great camera but, I used a battery belt instead of an on camera battery so the camera was really front heavy. I have to say though I like the live sound in the demo, I have always done just music and I have had many compliments on the use of the live sound over the music. Thank you for your honest critique. I do appreciate it.

Hey,
I think you looked at the old crappy demo. Is the one you looked at big like 29mbs. It should be. There is only one demo on the new page, or should be. Let me know, I looked at the old one and it seems to fit your description better, and, if that was the one you looked at YES, most definately it looks like crap. Let me know. ;D

Try these links

QuickTime  http://www.monkus.net/weddemo.html

Windows Media http://www.monkus.net/media/Weddemo.wmv

PS. Yes, that was the problem. The Windows Media link was going to the old crappy demo. If you try it now it will work fine. Phew.

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

No, doubt. It sucked. I had to put something up there so I strung together some raw footage. That stuff was craptastic. Thank God it was only up for a week.   :P

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

No, I meant vov's comments. Apparently they were well-placed (and well-intentioned) . . . but still . . . .

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

I saw the raw footage you had posted from another thread, and I was a bit concerned by the shaky shots as the couple was coming down the aisle at the end. However, THIS demo was really pretty good. The slow motion covered for some camera movement (especially the kissing shot). The wide shot of the dance along with the tossing of the bouquet was nice. I liked the mix of audio from the ceremony with the music (unlike the other post above). It wasn't overdone at all.

Overall, nice demo. I think your potential customers will like this, especially if they've seen their friend's wedding video, which in all likelihood was probably pretty dull.

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

In the middle of the video, you have a black and white composition but that car is blue. And you did the same thing with a girl in a red dress earlier in the piece. How do you do that effect where you can isolate something like that?

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

I did it using FCP. I applied the 3-way color corretion filter. Selected the dropper from the "Limit Effect" tab to choose the color (let's say the blue on the car) I then clicked the invert button. After that all you have to do is slide the saturation all the way down and only the blue should remain. Then just play with the color range and softening to fine tune it. I learned it from here

Let me know how it works for you.

And hey, Thanks Magic.

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

You are an idiot. What's saying that you have to have 2 wireless mic's always? NOTHING. First of all we don't even know the prices for his wedding packages. I wouldn't dare to see two wireless mic's put in a package around 1k dollars. All you are doing is making more editing time in post for yourself. "don't want to be harsh" yeah then don't speak next time. You did not say one thing that you did like. This is one of the better wedding demo's that I have seen and am glad to see someone puting out this good of work, keep it up!

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

Lookin good man. I like the isolated color technique... and I love Norah Jones too ;)

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

Monkus, thanks for the explanation and the Ken Stone link. Unfortunately, I have Final Cut Express and it looks as though you need Pro to do this. Do you (or anyone else) know if it can be done in Express?? I want to isolate one colour on an otherwise b+w compostion. Stone calls it the "Pleasantville" look.

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

I know there is a plugin called "One Color" By Virtix. I looked on their site and the plugins for FCE are still in development. You may try and check back there. Other than that, I'm not sure how else to do it. ???

You right, Kyle , I am an Idiot :( . Also I am fat old hary selfish male with bad breath and bad english. But even with this excelent quality I still have right to say what I feel like, you chose to agree or not.

Re: Ok, 1 more wedding

I find this amusing. I took no offence to vovka's comments. They were mostly correct. Some were stylistic differences, but some were correct, especially considering that he looked at an old non-corrected temporary clip. He is not an idiot, fat and hairy perhaps. ;D
