For the last 4 years i've been using a DVX100B for work. I love it. I basically do documentaries and occasionally commercials for a small TV network in northern Spain.
My DVX is dead. I need another camera URGENTLY.
Right now I have a very small budget. Perhaps next year i can afford a better camera, for now, I need something that i can film with that i can broadcast on TV.
Dont care for HD becuase its a small Tv network dont air HD. At least 3CDD i'd imagine.
Just something that can deliver with at least similar image quality than the DVX
Please help!
Second hand is also an option!
Thank you!

The only option I see here is another dvx...the can be had used for cheap nowadays.

I cannot afford another DVX, not even a second hand one. In spain, the cheapest i found is 1000€. foe now that $ is out of the question....It has to be PAL

I cant afford over 600€

thats about US$880 correct? u'll have to save some more...and try to get an original dvx for us900-us1000. ive seen that around...but the PAL, maybe harder to find.

If it is for unpaid work, wait and save up. If you are using the camera for paid work, just borrow the few hundred and use what you earn to pay it back.

What's 'dead' about the DVX? If it's just the recording function, you can always buy a cheap consumer MiniDV camcorder and slave it to the DVX via a firewire cable, and your DVX will live again!

You could try finding a Sony VX2000 or Canon GL1/2... All 3 are 3CCD. None of them have XLR audio but they have mini 3.5mm audio in... I used a VX2000 before my DVX, and it gives great image quality, just the manual controls are not as ergonomic as the DVX, and the colors aren't as great (fix in FCP)!
I got my VX originally for $1200 but I have seen them for $500 or less... Check Ebay or Craigslist to find some deals, or check the DVXUser marketplace for deals on other cameras.

Thank you! for now this is the best advice!

It basically fell overboard into the deep deep sea....
Only the waves to blame and my stupidity.....but i must say i was already giving me tons of problems, manual focus was down, it would turn off suddenly, it would lock, i used it to extenuation for 4 years. I think it just commited suicide...
