SHORT: ofiouxos trailer

I actually thought the effects were decent up until the end. The "demon face" or whatever you want to call it is pretty cheesy looking. Always remember, in CGI, a little goes a long way.

The bigger issue is that I just didn't understand what was going on. So there's a satellite that shoots people from space and turns them into demons?

Also, this is a silly nitpick, but how would the guy know to be looking up when a satellite shoots him?

hey everyone...

i made a little intro/trailer with some effects.. and would like some feedback on it!! thanx!

I'll wait for 'this sommer 2012'... to see the film...

The one fault I have is in the landsat view zooming... the transition from the satellite image to the on the street image was a little 'awkward'... but I suppose one would have to do a 3-D model of the city detail to do better...

Just as a note... if your title... "ofiouxos", is a transliteration of the Greek, οφιουχος, to Latin text, this is the more standard... Ophiuchos, The Serpent Bearer...

jghenderson: yeah.. i might have gone a little overboard with the "daemon face"... i wanted to make an extreme change but maybe it dint come out so "tight"... but you got the scenario right... it is something like a satellite... it was supposed to be an alien gun shooting something that "infects" people and tunes them into monster like beings. i hadn't thought of why he was looking up... maybe i should have put a sound like something is shooting through the sky to give him a reason to look up. or maybe a bright flash in the sky! thanx for the pointers!!!

j1clark@ucsd.edu: the earthzoom was from a sequence of photos i got from googlemaps.. the only problem was that the area (where i live) they haven't mapped out to full zoom.. but i didn't want to use a different place.. so as you said.. I would have probably had to design it in 3d.... thanx for the title pointer!! i'll see how I can update it or change it!!

thanx again for the feedback!!

As a big sci-fi geek I find that story really intriguing. The idea of an alien race causing havoc on earth without even having to step foot on it is ripe with possibilities.

And yes I think adding some kind of sound into the trailer could give a reason for why he would look up, and I think it could actually help tell the story better as well and make it clear to the audience "he's just been shot by something strange"

jghenderson: i was thinking how it would be best to show at some point the aliens.... maybe in the alien ship...but i dont want to make it too "corny"... i am trying to design something that looks nice, realistic and simple... i also wanted to show more that something is being shot... as you said.. it might need some "tweaking" to give a better feeling of something is being shot down... maybe a split scene where the actor sees a flash in the sky and tries to see what it is...

dre83: that's the whole point!! i wanted to make it mysterious at the beginig.. not showing exactly what is being sot by who or why!! im glad that i see that the clip has this feeling!!
