offline/online edit procedure

Hi,
I'm fairly new to editing HD footage and have never done an offline edit then conformed(right word...?) it to a high quality online edit.

I am editing a short that will be shot on red at 2K this weekend, and was wondering what the best way to do an offline, then online edit is...

Do you setup a different project at a lower resolution then take an EDL into a higher resolution project for the online, or just import lower quality raw files into one 1080p project and replace those with a higher quality version when your ready to output the completed film?

Help me dive in to the world of HD editing, any tips or whatever would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Several workflows are defined at www.avid.com/red

Other questions for you are what version of software and what hardware configuration are you running? Is HD going to be your ultimate master? How many hours of dailies are you anticipating? Answers to these will guide the best workflow needed.

Hey, yes i have been reading the workflows on that page and i am starting to understand a bit better.
It seems to me that the options to deal with red footage are somewhat limited on the PC right now. it seems they've developed much more codecs and programs for the mac right now.

I am using media composer 3.0 - software only
the final output has to be a 1080p dvcpro quicktime
and on set they will be shooting at 2k.
The short can't be more than 11 minutes, and the script is only 9 pages, so i dont imagine there will be more than an hour of dalies.
