Official Trailer "Memories of Tomorrow"

This looks really good; I remember seeing a bit of preview on this awhile ago (couple on the beach); my subjective take is:

The Trailer could be shorter and still hammer home the point; I'd also save the 'quick flashing images' for the end of the trialer to build tension.

Anyway, looks really solid and the acting apppears first rate.

very nice. I've been watching this project for a while now. A couple of suggestions tho. Change the text font, it's just horrible. Also get rid of the horribly blown out shot where she is in the car crying. You have a bunch of beautiful cinemetography and then that random shot... Other then that very cool. I like your lead man lots of character!

I really have no room to comment since I've never even attempted a short feature but I'm just not a fan of handheld work unless it's steadycam. Doesn't look like anything was shot on a tripod. It doesn't look too bad in a 100x200 pixel screen but blow that up to a 50" big screen and it's gonna have the Blair Witchy look.

OTOH - the concept looks great and the actors are really good.

I agree w/ John--Make shorter and save the quick flashes until the end, building up to the gunshot. It really does look good!

thanks for the comments all...mucho appreciated.... sirius - the movie looks way better on the big screen but have to agree some people get dizzy in one particular sequence because of the floating/shaking camera...

and thanks for the suggestions - i will probably implement them when i cut the next trailer - with this one i did want to explore the changing rhythms instead of following usual trailer structure....

I remember you posted the beach scene and I got to say I was very impressed by that one where it displayed more of the acting and your shots were well chosen...
this trailer is lacking that first ones feel
it def should be shorter
I agree the flashes should be moved to the end and add the effects and music to match else it feels out of place
and display more of the great actors that you had... well acting...i feel that will sell it more for you.

Wow, there are some great shots in there.

There is this one about a 1/3 of the way in, a long shot, a guy walking across snow or sand, very cool.

Also, you have some wonderful faces. Too many independent projects have plain looking people in them, the woman in particular has a great face.

The quick cuts in the middle from face to face was a little too much for me, but other than that it was an intriguing trailer.

Best of luck with it,

Chris

Superbe, It look very good, will be nice to see more. Only one remark, you should had use a steadycam, the hand held look a bit shaky; Good work !!

i am cutting together a shorter version of the trailer-a 1 minute one and hopefully i will upload it within a day or two...will post it then and look forward to hearing the reactions to the shorter version.

thanks for the comments shadow - would have definitely used a steadycam if we could afford it - the whole budget for the movie was NZ$ 15,000/- so it was hard allocating money for a steadicam especially when we were shooting just over the weekends...

looks amazing. 2 questions
1. what did you shoot in Anamorphic (squeeze) or The 16:9 Cut off
2. If you shot in Anamorphic did you shoot with an Anamorphic lens with he 16:9 correction lens.

THis looked like you shot it on a 35mm arri 360 beautiful

We shot 4:3 and just put a 16:9 mask in post. No special lenses used - we used the lens which the camera comes with and used the wide angle lens in a couple of scenes. :D

Have to say it looks great. The acting is top notch. I agree with John Hudson's comments about the trailer cut. A re-shuffling of the order of those scenes would build tension better. Not to mention giving information out earlier would keep the viewer engrossed more.
How are you releasing this? Theatrically? DVD? Both?
