Official Panasonic GH2 Shipping Date & Authorized US Retailers

Can anyone from Panasonic officially comment on the:

1. Official Panasonic GH2 Shipping Date for the US
2. Authorized US Retailers receiving first shipments.

If not known, what are the official US distributors?

For those of us who had our orders cancelled by Amazon or delayed by others,
I think it would assist us so we don't flood legitimate dealers with "pretend"
orders and allow Panasonic to maintain civil discourse...

Please help us loyal Panasonic and DVXusers... Jan, Barry, any help?... Scarlet?

Jan has nothing to do with consumer products and I'm sure Barry is as clueless as all of us.

From what I'm seeing, their only going to give an official date when their ready or you'll only find out once the retailers tell you that they are shipping it.

A list of US distributors that will be receiving a GH2 is definitely a good idea but if an authorized retailer have been carrying the GH1, than chances are you can get them to order a GH2 for you so for now you can call up the stores that have one.

I've said this before but some authorized retailer don't have a long line of pre-orders so the chances of your camera being in that store's first shipment might be pretty good.

I just figured maybe Jan or Barry might have a better contact list to the Consumer division or a little more feedback from Panasonic than us- calling Panasonic is quite frustrating, as nobody seems to know much about DSLR video and lenses at all...

I'd like to avoid reading another 18 page trash thread about promises unkept by Panasonic retailers, which ultimately reflects poorly on Panasonic in general...

We have never had a representative of Panasonic Consumer join our boards or make any manner of comment here. Jan works in the Broadcast division, which is actually a separate company. And I have no contacts within the consumer division. During the hack days I tried e-mailing them to see if we could get Vitaliy some tools, but ... well, they only answered my e-mail once, and haven't answered since, so ... I wouldn't exactly say I have any contacts at all in Panasonic Consumer.

Thanks for your quick feedback- I look forward to your AF100 book, and would love to see a book or your take on the GH2. I planned on using it for timelapses today and to see how I'd like MFT in preparation for a possible AF100 purchase, but that seems on the backburner till Panasonic chimes in here though unrelated, along with my Scarlet "order"- you just can't win in 2010- good thing CES is only 40+ days away, when I'm certain most everyone will have a mirrorless design to show... Patience....

I had had success back before the GH1 came out emailing some of the panasonic people whose contact info was on the press release for the camera...someone want to look that up and send an email? I remember I emailed them about live HDMI out back when not much was known about the camera and they were able to (after checking) confirm that it didn't have it (GH1.) So yeah, someone go get the press release for the GH2 and email some of those people and ask...preferably someone diplomatic and well read.
 
BH, Amazon, and who else wil be selling these? Best Buy- doubtful I guess... would love to actually get it at a physical store but in Arkansas we are pretty limited
 
@Bonpierce: You'll be fine. The battery chargers are universal power 110-240V 50/60Hz. The GH2 doesnt come with an AC adapter - that's an extra.
 
I just ordered mine from vistek.com today. (canadian) website says they have stock and shipping is 1-2 days! GH2 + 14-140 kit lens was $1550 cad after taxes $1728 shipping is free :)
 
The GH2 has officially landed in the American Midwest today... currently charging battery. I think we can wind this thread down & cheers to all, hope the camera makes you smile!
