Official Clerks II thread

Mallrats is my favorite too. I think it's because Jason Lee can spit out Smith's dialogue with lots of emotion, rage being my favorite delivery.

Man, I can't quite understand the rave reviews here. Perhaps this movie would have been better had I watched it with a few drunken buddies. But, I watched it last night by myself and was in pain most of the time.

The writing in Randall's diatribes seemed forced, the acting was TERRIBLE throughout...except for Rosario Dawson...it was predictable and rarely amusing.

Heart? I didn't see it. I saw cheese.

Saw this last night. It was pretty good. Not as good as the first, ofcourse. But entertaining. Specially the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings thing.

I think this is by far the best film Kevin Smith has ever made. Whereas he used to just be crude for the sake of being crude, he actually tries to tell a story this time around, and does it successfully. Oh, and he gets Rosario Dawson to admit she likes ass to mouth. That alone is worth the price of admission!

i like the idea of kevin smith more than the actual movies by kevin smith. i really respect the fact that he did his thing as independent director and made it big with clerks, but i haven't been all that impressed by his movies. the humor is one dimensional, relying too heavily on sex jokes.

i still watch his films when they come out, but for the most part i end up disappointed.

There is no excuse for Clerks II to be as bad as it was. None.

Clerks was bad, but gets points for being a first effort and done on the cheap.

Clerks II...the only difference I saw, quality-wise, was it was done in color. And Jeff Anderson's acting got better.

And I like Kevin Smith. I just have no idea why this film was made. The only thing I can think of is peer pressure.

GenJerDan--

Looks like you and I are the minority in this thread. I don't see what everbody else sees in this flick. I don't get it. The acting was SOOOO bad I couldn't focus on the movie. Nothing was even remotely real to me...especially the part about the two hot chicks in love with Dante...yeah right...

Plus, I didn't have the fun of saying "Oh, look there's... And there's..." because it wasn't shot on location.

The actual store is now split into three little thingies. I forget what. A laundry and a pizza place? Not sure. Maybe a chinese take-out. Used to shop there all the time after school. Back when it was Wasserman's, anyway.

(But the Food Circus clown is still there.)

The stuff just isn't funny being delivered by guys who are pushing 40. Seems like Smith just took the rambling crudity to a new level for an hour and a half before getting to the point, a point which was a bit absurd.

And it was shot poorly, too.
