Off-load Camera

Are there any good consumer cameras that are in the 100-200 dollar range that I can off-load tapes from instead of putting the hours on the tape heads.

Thanks, this has probably been asked before and discussed.

I don't know about $100, but places like Wal-Mart, Target have some pretty cheap Mini DVs. I just wouldn't buy something to cheap. I would hate to see a tape get ate by some cheap camcorder.

When I had my XL1s I would just us the camera to down load to computer. I just never did a lot of rewinding then fast forwarding or using the same tape.

Yeah.....thats what im trying to get away from, using the tape transport in the camera. Trying to keep the head time down on my DVX.

Yes, pick up a cheap camera to use as a deck. Ebay, my friend... ebay.

I use a canon ellure I picked up for $150 (from ebay), been using it for about 3 years, and never had a problem.

Any brand will do.

Do you still pull timecode off as well with that??

Just picked up a Panasonic GS39, captures timecode and 24PA footage just fine....got it at target for 280. Just thought I'd give an update.

Yes ebay is your friend I got a used mini dv panny for 65$ works perfectly and the dc adaptor is interchangeable!

Make sure you get one that reads timecode!
