Off brand batteries of Different Weight? (same brand)

I did the exact same thing! I ordered an off-brand last year and it was the same weight as my panny batteries. I ordered another one this year and it is the same size but different weight. I used the battery at a wedding for about an hour last weekend and it worked, but I'm not sure it will last the full 8 hours that its supposed to.

ive also bought a couple off brand batts over the years. and they all way underperformed.

i suggest the spec comm batteries. very reliable and well worth the price.

Well, the lighter battery did not function at all in my DVX100 or 7" marshall monitor. The heavier one ran my marshall monitor for about 2.5 hours.

The lighter battery has smaller (less capacity) cells inside. You could get a OK battery on EBAY if you are lucky, order again from the same vendor, and you might get a similar looking one with fortune cookies inside. It is amazing how they get away with this...

dont dick around with ebay. yeah, you MAY save $60 on one battery. but when it really matters wouldnt you rather choose to TRUST YOUR GEAR than save a few bucks on a battery?... a $60 savings on one end may cost you your reputation on the other...

I bought a DVX battery about four years ago.
Never worked and repeated attempts to have it replaced have failed.
Sorry to have to say that, but it should be said.
I buy only Panasonic batteries now.
I have a 6 year old Panasonic battery that still takes and hold a charge.
Using it in my HPX 170 now.

Not all generics are created equal. Some of them are bad. Some of them are decent, and some come with a 3 years warranty. Panasonics I seem to remember are 3 months, and they do fail. In overall, yes, the brand names are better. But many users have very good experience with generics.
