Odyssey7 & Odyssey7Q Status Update

looking through the tutorials the other poster linked, I didn't see an option to choose that. When I was switching from 24 -240 on a hockey shoot I had to wait each time. Normally all I want to do is shoot 24p or 120p in 4kprores or UHD. You're saying I can do that without waiting, so do I need to toggle an option to pre-select those 2 in the odyssey?
 
unfortunately, there is no interface on the Odyssey that shows this. (HINT HINT Mitch Gross)

From what you are describing, you are constantly switching modes in the same slot..hence, 3min wait each time. You need to figure out which recording mode you have loaded in memory. OR...you could do a factory reset. I believe that would reset both slots.

Not sure if this quick illustration will help, but this is the basic principle. If you keep switching recording modes in the same "slot", you'll have to wait 3 min each time. So for you, you need to get your 24p mode in one slot and 240 in the other...or whatever combo you will be using on a shoot. Take the time to load them into their slots before the shoot and then you can switch back and forth without delay.

Wow, thank you very much for putting that together. I had no idea about those slots - I think I get it - I have another food shoot today so I'll try doing that as I'm setting up. The key is to find out what the default slots are. The funny part is I won't know until I'm switching successfully if I understand what you're saying.

My strategy will be to make note with a pen when there is no wait - then I'll know what both slots are essentially... at that point I can switch to a desired one, go back to the other one and change that if it's not already what I want.


I'm doing FSRAW - UHDProRes (24) and FSRAW - UHDProRes (HS 120)...

And I just realized the bonus *mode if I can call it that would be switching, as I have been, to s/q120 on the FS700 WITHOUT changing 'slots' on the odyssey will give me that half-way slow motion in case true 120 is too much! That's not bad!

Thanks very much for everyone clearing this up - I don't feel AS dumb now that I know it's not exactly super intuitive.
 
Now that I have the monitor in front of me, there is no FS RAW HS, only 2k RAW HS. This is getting frustrating. I know for a fact I've done burst mode in RAW-RAW when I first got the camera/monitor. In fact when you go FSRAW-RAW burst mode just worked from what I remember - so the camera would just kind of take over.

One setting I noticed was 'project rate' and mine is set to 23.98 - now I"ve changed it to be 'follows input' - so either that will work, or I can't record 120fps in UHD mode, OR I'm missing something or need a firmware update... There is no HS option beyond the 2k mode.
 
When you record 4K 120fps...the FS700 records to buffer and then send the signal at your record rate to the Odyssey at 29.97. (in my case)

Just set the Odyssey to FS-RAW to UHD or 4k ProRes and set the FS700 to 4K output (24/30/60) and use S&Q to select 4K 120fps.

This is exactly my problem and why I was so sure of myself and so WRONG! IN the example video of the guy skipping I posted - that's precisely what I did, I had the odyssey set to FS-RAW to UHD and set the fs700 to 4k output 24 and used the S&Q select to 4k 120 frames - exactly as you said - and it turns out I've been recording 60fps for almost a year thinking I was doing 120! The one thing I can think of is maybe I HAVE to use the camera as the 'trigger' rather than the odyssey? Haven't seen Mitch in here in a while, wish he would slap the stupid out of me on this!

When I do exactly as you said it will just roll and roll in 60fps apparently.
 
are you sure you have the FS700 to ouput 4K RAW at 24fps? If that's set to 4K 60...and the odyssey is follow input, that would explain that.

Totally sure. Sorry to hijack the thread, I'll take the issue to CD as it doesn't seem to make sense - maybe doing another firmware update would do it, but I worry about some of the complaints I've read.
 
When recording RAW from the Varicam LT, is there a 2K DNG record option on the 7Q+ that uses the full frame data (when output on the SDI of the Varicam is set to 12bit 4K) at all the normal frame rates: 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 (NOT HFR), that would a very useful option for projects that do not need to finish in 4K but we can still get RAW workflow?
 
If im feed and recording a 4k signal into a Odyssey mointor out of a dvx200 will the SDI output be outputting a 1080 signal?

Hope all is well, haven't been on here for awhile.

Question:
I just found out about the Atomos Shogun update and it said that I can use my FS7 to shoot 2k 120fps. Go to find out that I need the extension, I checked on your site and it looks like I might be able to just upgrade my FS7 through you guys? I am also guessing it is Convergents extension? correct me if I am wrong. Let me know, Thank you Sir
 
Existing 7Q+ users, were you able to generate a DNxHD activation key when you are logged into your account? Each time I clicked on the link this is the error message I am getting: "You are not authorised to view this resource." What should I do?

Also Titan HD Extract key on my account page gives Invalid Key error when entered into my 7Q+. Maybe the new features aren't quite fully baked yet :)
 
My THD key works in my Odyssey 7Q+, thank you! At least it is valid, but I didn't use the function yet.

But I cannot get the DNxHD activation key either. I am logged in at CD but get the "You are not authorised to view this resource." error.
