Odyssey SSDs connectivity issues

Hey guys!

I've been having a hard time having the SSDs detected by my computer. I'm using the Convergent Design SSD-USB cable. The SSDs are easily detected by Odyssey 7Q but both my computers really struggle to see them. I have to manually connect, reconnect, disconnect, plug them into different USB ports and/or fiddle with the cable (and the attached SSD) so that my desktop computer could notice it. I never know what I did right. Once the drive is detected, it stays detected and works flawlessly.

Is there something I'm not fully aware of? Some missing drivers? I hope it's not the cable's fault as I'm going to shoot relying on these SSDs in several days and I need to transfer data quickly.

Please, help me!

I can't really offer any insight into why they aren't connecting, but I was also having trouble using the CD SSD-USB3 cable (which is really just a Kingwin adapter with a 100% markup). Some USB 3.0 ports were hit or miss, while others didn't recognize it at all.

I got around it for a bit by connecting it directly to a SATA port to the motherboard. I then ordered a Seagate adapter (link below) which has worked flawlessly for me. It has a power adapter, so it's possible that my USB 3.0 ports just weren't providing enough juice to power the drive to connect properly when using the CD cable. The downsize would be if you are in the field and need to transfer the hard drives and don't have access to AC power.

I had a similar cable to the CD one, but made by Seagate and it worked poorly. It would just stop copying RAW sequences for no reason; so I don't use it anymore.

I use the Seagate Thunderbolt Dock and that works pretty well, except it gets really hot so you have to careful. It's really expensive though, but copies very fast.

This dock works excellent, no problems except that it's big so I just keep it at home. On location, I use the Seagate Thunderbolt.

Thanks guys. I solved the problem by buying a different adapter. It's a shame that the one made by CD didn't work properly.
