Odyssey error when using DSLR Question...

Sorry to post this here instead of contacting CD direct but I figure it's probably something we are doing wrong and someone else may do this so it could be helpful. We used our 7Q tonight for the first time with a DSLR setup (D800). Up until now we have only filmed with our FS700 and everything has worked fine. We werent using the 7Q as a recorder tonight, just wanted to use it as a great monitor. And it is... BEAUTIFUL image... until we hit record on the D800 then the screen would go to the screen that I am attaching the picture- (sorry for the lack of focus but we had to be quick) and then the monitor would just go black. After we stopped recording on the camera the image comes back. We tried it with and without the SSD's inserted but it was the same result either way. We were using HDMI and recording to internal card on D800. I am wondering if that had anything to do with it since the D800 dumbs down it's HDMI output when you have a card inserted so maybe it is outputting a format during record that the Odyssey doesn't recognize. I didn't try it without a card inserted in the cam. Like I said at the start, it's probably just some setting that I'm missing so any help would be great because we will be shooting with this same setup all week next week.

Thanks in advance.

When switching to internal record on the D800, the camera's HDMI output drops from 1080 to 720, which is a format the Odyssey7Q does not currently support. Short of moving your sole recording over to the Odyssey7Q there is little that can be done at this time. It is possible to get a converter box that will uprez the 720 signal to 1080, but that is an added expense, more stuff hanging from your camera rig and there will still be at least a momentary rest every time you switch in and out of record.

That is what I figured. Don't get me wrong, I love the 7Q so far, but I think that is a definite over sight. Because if I just bought the 7Q to start out as a monitor only, with the idea of upgrading into recording (the way the 7Q has been talked about alot), then I would be very upset.

Understood. We will get 720p implemented as soon as possible. Same goes for 2:3 pulldown.
