This battery bracket for the Odyssey 7Q works with the Sony or Swit batteries for the Sony FS700. It mounts on the back of the Odyssey on either the left or right side and is fully compatible with the West Side AV Odyssey Mounting Bracket. We make the cable the right length for the battery plate mounted as shown, longer cable lengths are available, email us when you order at info@westsideav.com for custom cable lengths. The battery is securely held in the bracket by an east to operate cam.

We also have IDX and AB solutions. But this is very light and compact, and a great way to use your smallest Sony batteries.

It can be ordered now here:
http://www.westsideavstore.com/index.php?p=product&id=82

We have brushed aluminum finish and black painted ones in stock now, and next week will have a batch of black anodized ones back from the anodizer.

Looks like a great solution, however I thought the 7Q needed a minimum of 10 volts to operate it? The Sony batteries are 7.2 volts.
Wouldn't you need 2 plates to get this to work?

Hope I'm wrong as this is a good lightweight option.

The Odyssey has been updated to accept from 6.5-34v DC.

This is a change from the original spec.

I am a dealer and owner of the Odyssey 7Q and I use mine w/o any problem, so I can report first hand the new spec is good...

This kind of Battery-plate needed for FS-700 ... and a specially with Odyssey:

V-batteryPlate.jpg

and I wondering how many times I have to try to get people attention to a very simple FACT:

If you use Sony RAW recorder Set, like this:

OlegStuff_029.jpg

or like that:

Oleh-Stuff-015c.jpg

you camera is BALANCED.. even all what you have is only a normal 24-70mm F2.8 lens !!!

.. and with classical 70-200mm F2.8 IS -II lens you will need even MORE lb / kg behind your back side ..to balance your shoulder RIG..

so try to imagine - how much MORE weight your Odyssey will add to FRONT part of your RIG!!

It's NOT only a monitor.. ....it's RECORDER with TWO SSD-disks inside !!!

so, when you DO NOT use Sony RAW SET - you have no choice, but ADD this absolutely USELESS BALANCING-WEIGHT on your RIG:

BALANCING-WEIGHT.jpg

..but instead of it - you have a chance to add a USEFUL Battery Plate !!! ( for external V-lock battery ) with perfect set of DC outputs of 12 volts ( for monitor or EVF ), 7.2 or 8 volts ( for your FS-700 ) and 5 volts for something else! :2vrolijk_08:

Just CUT this cable from AC-power adapter ... and connect it to 7.2-8 volt output of your Battery plate... and to your FS700 !

...It's so simple, don't you think so?

there are endless npf dummies to whatsoever plug (dtap, dc in, hirose, xlr ...) .... why cutting a cable from ac power adapter ... senseless posting!

Westside A V makes a complete FS700 package including either AB or IDX style 14.8 v battery plate that have 7.4 v as well. And 15 mm Rails system and lens support.

We have a very compact shoulder kit. And EVF holder. The Odyssey solution in this thread is in addition to our more complete and heavier kit for when you want to be really portable. We also have a C-stand adapter for this kit it will be on our site soon.

Our FS700 shoulder Kit:

Thanks Olof, great news. That was one of the main issues I had with the unit which they have addressed-having to use an additional set of batteries. CD's website says 7Q can do 6.5 volts, but the Odyssey 7 is still a minimum of 10 volts.
Maybe this will change also?

Would you be so kind to show me a SAMPLE of any of that cable connection which can work with Sony FS-700 plug - in ?

.. I don't know one, except westsideavstore FS700 Battery Plate for $280

, so place the pictures and a links to devices, please!

Thanks in advance!

i am sure that is just an omission on CDs website.

I would be amazed if the specs are not the same for the 7 as the 7Q on power requirements.

Mitch?

I sell just the D-tap wire with the Sony on one end and the D-tap on the other:

Screen Shot 2013-11-20 at 7.04.53 PM.jpg

We don't like to sell just the wire with ends because so many people think they can use any D-tap. This version with a D-tap at the other end is $75.00.

We like people to understand the difference, so we contact by phone or email if someone orders this cable only to make sure they understand.

We also will sell just a pigtail version of the cable by special request.

I hope this is clear, there is a lot of confusion with this Sony connector, it is mostly used on Sony Laptops and other Sony consumer devises.

How long does one NP-F770 power the 7Q for?

How long does one NP-F770 power the 7Q for?

It depends on how much the O7Q draws, this will vary depending on what it is doing. Just monitoring about 10-12w. When the 4K down converting to compressed comes out it may be more like 18w, I don't think anyone knows exactly yet.

Batteries are rated in WHrs or mWHrs, how many watts or milliwatts it vcan deliver for 1 hr.

So a brand new 48 WH battery like the 770 (if memory serves me right) would give 48/12 or 4 hrs at 12 w. At 24w 2 hrs.

As batteries age they loose capacity.

In reality my guess would be 3 hrs on a 1 year old 770 would be pretty realistic for most recording. Now 4K maybe less, I just don't know yet.

I hope this helps.

I know, wrong forum, but since you are talking about mounting brackets, do you offer anything for C500?

I have some kits I built for the C100 and C300 including EVFs, I have a C100 I use a lot myself. I had a C300 here for a while but I did not buy it.

I decided not to market these because I find the C100 really is a great R&G cam as is, it replaces the 5Ds I used before.

Contact me directly, by PM or email, and I can show you on Skype what I have. I do have some left in stock.

I am primarily a shooter, so I support the cameras I currently use. Because I know them so well. But I often do custom work as well, I have done some 3D rigs etc.

I still love and use my EX cams, with larger sensors I first went with the AF100, quickly replaced by the FS700 and then the C100 as well.

I build what I use myself.

Here are a couple shots of the C100 rig:

Hi SergeSMart,

I was wondering how you mounted the sony hand grip on the tilta rig. I have the same rig and I am trying to find a way to mount the handgrip - you seemed to have solved that. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry, I was not clear - I was talking specifically about OQ7 brackets for using with C500. Right now I am thinking about a simple approach by mounting OQ7 onto rods of the shoulder rig with the final result that looks something like

http://www.westsideavstore.com/O7QBracket25.jpg

basically using OQ7 instead of EVF. I found mounting gear to do that. But looking at what you've done for FS700 I thought you might have something special for C500.

The Odyssey7 and Odyssey7Q have the same power specs. 6.5-34v. We need to fix the website.

An Odyssey7 or Odyssey7Q with two SSDs mounted weighs just 1.4 pounds. It is extremely lightweight.
