Odyssey 7Q Raw Bundle now $995 instead of $6000+

Did I understand things correctly and that you now don't need to buy a separate license to use the FS700 raw options?
EDIT: Ah, no, it means I can now rent it, but if I want to buy it it's now $200 more expensive. Crap.

Any one have any news on whether people who already have licenses worth more than the new raw bundle will get any sort of upgrade offer? I own two arriraw licenses for instance... :)

We have not determined yet how we will handle this. We knew it would be a question but have not had time to address it. We'll let you know.

To Mitch Gross: Regarding the latest firmware release today, and the two following updates, will the dual stream recording that will be part of the raw bundle in the future also be enabling the Apple PRORES 4444 12bit/10 bit recording for both streams, or is the PRORES 4444 only a single camera recording feature?

[h=2]Firmware v2015.11 highlights.[/h] HD Dual-Stream Monitoring (Odyssey7Q+ & Odyssey7Q) View two HD video signals while recording one in Apple ProRes Note that Dual-Stream Recording (view & record two streams simultaneously) will be in the Odyssey RAW Bundle as a future firmware update. The Apollo Option (Quad-Stream Monitoring/Recording/Switching) will be available in December 2015.

At this time we are only planning to offer Dual-Stream Recording in 4:2:2.

Will there be notable differences in price and/or function between native Apollo and units with Apollo upgrade?

Mitch answered that on another forum, basically they're the same with the exception that the Apollo unit won't have the raw option. So, Apollo is for people who want a recorder and switcher and prefer to keep it simple, and Odyssey is for people who want to choose their feature set. Of course, mitch will have more detail, naturally :-)

More details...

Apollo is just Apollo. Multicamera monitor/recorder/switcher. Does 4x HD inputs now, will do 2x UHD inputs in the future. Records to Apple ProRes (HQ/422/LT) now, will do DNx in the future. Has LUTs and other monitoring tools.

Odyssey7Q/7Q+ with Apollo Option does EVERYTHING Apollo does, plus more. It has DPX recording, Apple ProRes 4444/4444(XQ) recording, anamorphic desqueeze, and of course the Odyssey RAW Bundle option.

Odyssey7Q+ with the Apollo Option is $4090 ($2295 + $1795). Apollo is $3995. A $90 difference.

So why would anyone buy an Apollo? If you are using the device for an installation, corporate work or somewhere else where you have absolutely no interest in the additional capabilities an Odyssey + Apollo would offer, then a "pure" Apollo offers an interface with one less layer of controls. It's cleaner and simpler to use, which can be a big plus for less tech-savvy users.

For pretty much anyone reading DVXuser, I would think that the added versatility of an Odyssey7Q+ with the Apollo Option would certainly be worthwhile.
