Odyssey 7Q is shipping- example videos?

I'm sure the moment anyone gets theirs, there will be several posts on here, haha. If there's one thing this forum is excited about, it's the 7Q.

I'm guessing that CD has been shipping them to resellers who are probably having to turn around and get them out. I would expect it to be another day or two or three before people start receiving them.

Hopefully. But on the webpage there is still no upgrade regarding purchase options or the manual still isnt up :(

Dealers should be receiving the first units in the next day or so (depends where they are) and then they need some time to process them through their own systems before shipping them out.

Our webpage suffered a hiccup when we tried to launch some of the record option systems -- broke what we had in place for the Gemini. So we had to pull it to find the bug. I finished the manual last week but then it went through the usual rounds of copy checks and addendums internally. I'm reading through what I hope is the final draft tonight. Final until the next update, which isn't that far away!

Hi Mitch, thank you for your support on this forum, I, along as everyone else here, really appreciate !

I have a simple question if you don't mind.

Can you tell me the status of shipment to your european dealers please ? And in particular your french dealers if I may ask.

Thank you for our answer, keep up the good work,
Stéphane.

I know i'd be in the first ship out from CVP. Just a question of when they arrive at the UK distributors and CVP get their initial allocation. I ordered mine in June!

Looking forward to it, not unlike a small child at christmas...

cheers
Paul

I don't think it is prudent for me to publicly share such details. I can tell you that Odyssey7Qs have begun to ship worldwide, and that includes several resellers in the EU. We hope to get out another shipment this week or early next week, and then a steady flow from thereon.

Even if a dealer receives product from us, they may already have it allocated to an existing customer order, so it's not like you could buy it that day or stop by and try it out. We really have no idea how many of the units on order with us from dealers are allocated to clients already, but I'm going to guess that at least for right now most if not all of what we ship is earmarked already.

You should talk to your local dealers to see what is available from them.

Mitch,
One weakness on your website, it seems to me, is a lack of accessories for the 7Q. I know you sell a power cable in several options. You may have a replacement screen protector. I think you are using 3rd parties for battery plates, but some recommendations would be helpful. Is there anything I haven't mentioned, other than software options and SSD's? A complete list of accessories would be helpful.

++1 to this. It's pretty unclear as to what is available for the 7Q. If all the items were mentioned and the list regularly updated on 1 page, that would be great.

William Dean, who is part of the FS700 User Group on Facebook has got his yesterday. We have already ask him if he could post some sample footages. Once it is up I will try to post it here or he might even post himself.

I am a dealer and I have been shooting with the 7Q for a few days now.

First I had to develop a good workflow, working with RAW is a lot different than ready to edit video from most cams.

I have published my workflow and offered to share my LUTs for Resolve. I have also published lots of photos of the different screens in the 7Q, just check the posts in this forum.

I plan to do some actual shooting in the next few days, but this AM we have a couple inches of new snow and it is raining. So initially it will be some indoor shooting. I will make the footage available here when I have some worth sharing.

More to come soon...

Here is what a raw DNG looks like, I can't use the regular image placement, so here is a link, try right clicking to download the DNG file:

The same image after a quick and dirty LUT in Resolve:

Bear in mind this is a jpg.

In this thread I explain the workflow:

With 4K , is the image wider now using the same lens?

No, in a word.

2K that is enabled now is using the full width of the imager on the 700. As will 4K, and as HD (1920 x 1080) does.

2K is 2048 × 1072 pixels.

Olof,

Quick question....I see black bars on the top and bottom of the image you posted. Opening your DNG in Resolve does not have these bars. What caused them in your posted image?

Edit: nevermind, I see the answer now. The 2k window in Resolve is 2048x1152, when the actual image size is 2048x1080.Is that how the FS700 defines 2K? If so, that's not 16:9, it's DCI 2K.

Edit2: Confirmed that the FS700 2k output is 2048x1080
