Odyssey 7q europe stock

We ordered our second 7Q a couple of months back and received it last week, so they are getting through, I expect the lead time is getting shorter all the time... but I doubt you'll find any in stock anywhere, there's still a back log to cover first. So if you want one, get an order in with one of the Authorised resellers as soon as possible (http://convergent-design.com/Dealers/EUMiddleEastAfrica.aspx).... if you're luck enough to find one in stock elsewhere whilst you're waiting, I'm sure you'll be able to refund on the original order, it's not like they'll have a problem shifting the unit on to somebody else!

Ring around all of the dealers on the list - I did that and cut my wait time by a couple of months I think. I've had mine about 6 weeks now.

V Impact unlikely to have them in stock but will turn round an order very quickly. I got mine from there. Took a couple of weeks.

Just ordered mine from Visual Impacl ;) Last one in stock ;) Hopefully the firmware update will come out soon. Very excited with this ;)

Ooh that was a good find. Enjoy it. I'm sure it'll be like Christmas morning as a kid tomorrow!!

btw you did ask if they had battery plates in stock did you?

Yes i asked, but they didn't have them :( one step at the time. I only had money for a O7Q and a 256 SSD. And to buy the sony raw option. I have to got more jobs to get the rest of the stuff ;) The Visual Impact guys were very quick and very nice. Since i am from Portugal they called me to my cell and every thing. Real top service.

Chances are he would recommend his own mounting system, which I've heard nothing but good about! :) Alternatively, check out the noga articulating arms! They are pretty good too!

That arm you posted a link to on CVP appears all over ebay for varying prices and in a number of configurations. It's fairly cheap compared to a branded Noga though. One thing I would say is that it's maybe a little too short, depending how you want to use it. For some setups, I use the clamp and attach the arm to a tripod leg, especially for dual camera event setups. I find that works best rather than being attached to a single camera. Easier to monitor two cameras that way. For this, a longer arm is better for me.

Yes it should. It's similar to the one I have. BUT I've still not found a totally secure solution. The arms are excellent and really lock solidly but because they only have the single thread and no locating/locking stud or other mechanism, they are prone to unscrewing as there can be a large moment generated by a monitor on the long arm. It depends how you position the arm as to whether gravity helps keep the arm firmly secured or flapping around because it's unscrewing. Does that make sense?

I'm still looking for a solution that involves a Noga arm or similar but has a more secure fastening system to both the monitor and the camera, whether it's the handle or a rig etc. In another post (think it may have been on dvinfo) I mentioned that Sony have solved the problem with their 7" LCD arm for the F5/55. That arm has a locating and locking mechanism designed for mounting to a top handle and the LCD itself. Very neat. Not sure if it would work for the O7Q or not though and as a spare it'd probably be very expensive from sony.

I have a Noga Arm solution that is inexpensive and will be available next week:

The nice thing about these is there is no unthreading when using a Cine Arm, and there are 2 tapped holes on the bottom, ¼" and ⅜" for any size Noga/Cine arm or other ball adapter.

They can be ordered w/o the battery plate. Or with A/B, IDX or Sony E series (FS700) battery plate as well as Canon battery plate.

There is also the option to add a protective bar to the bottom of the bracket to protect the power and BNC plugs, this was requested by Dan Keaton. I included holes for this but I have yet to finalize the design of that bar.

The great thing about adding a heavy battery this way is it is attached to my rugged bracket not the 3mm holes in the back of the Odyssey.

I will of course keep making my standard 15mm based mounting kit as well.
