FS7: Odyssey 7Q and LC709A LUT request.

Hi Mitch,

I'm sure you're aware of the LUT limitations of the FS7 - No LUT on playback, slow motion or with a exposure tool enable.

Several questions on LUTs and the 7Q

1) Will monitoring LUTs on the 7Q be coming out soon? I'm praying for LUTs on the 7Q because it lives on my FS7 and I want to be able to see it all the time.

2) If you are taking requests, can you guys do a factory implimented LC709A looking LUT for the 7Q since this is a very popular LUT for the F cameras?

I'm thinking with a robust implementation of LUTs on the 7Q, this alone would be a big selling point for the device and very useful.
 
We are hard at work on the LUT system and hope to have it out soon. I should be able to give a sense of a schedule shortly.

LC709A is definitely something we want to incorporate into the LUT solutions.

Awesome. Also, I know in the past there was mention of being able to rate the ISO on the 7Q (virtual ISO) like on the FS7 which is tremendously useful. Any chance of that still coming out? I know it's a lot to ask for.

Since nobody has any idea if the FS7 will ever have a full LUT implementation, we might be relying the 7Q for this.

On another similar note, I've been setting LUT to ON in the Viewfinder rated at various ISOs and have the 7Q just recording the flat image. This is tremendously useful as I get to see the LUT image and still have a clean, S-Log ISO 2000 waveform or histogram on the 7Q. A great combo and way to work. Plus, just having a backup copy on the 7Q SSD through the SDI is great peace of mind.
 
We do indeed have this as a plan, although I don't know if it will be available upon first release. The good thing about custom LUTs is that y'all can roll your own! I hope to see libraries of them and sharing among our clients. We'll set up a repository on our website for different looks for different cameras. Knock yourselves out.

One more small request. On the next 7Q firmware, can we have the option of dropping the Zebras down lower than 70? Maybe down to 60 or so would be great for the FS7.

The zebras will be getting a major revamp soon. I find them of minimal usefulness now but I believe the updated versions will prove quite useful to many.

And to answer your question, yes you will have this level of adjustment plus much more.
 
Also the same request on false color Mitch - loosen up the restrictions on those colors especially the yellow which i useless now. ( i know you've heard this from me before :-) )
