NOW SELLING FOR: $1575
(NEW PRICE FOR EVERYTHING: $2347)
$1795 for base unit + 2x 256GB SSDs ($450) + Sony battery backplate ($85) + 3rd party SSD kit ($25) + Pelican 1300 ($52) - missing AC adapter ($60)
Until midnight, Mon Aug 15th, Convergent Design is offering the RAW upgrade for $595 ($400 off)
I figure that someone might want to buy this, add the RAW upgrade, and save a bunch.
This little beastlet is solid, fanless, has a great P3-capable screen, great support from Mitch on DVXuser, reliable SSDs, etc. I'm stuck in post for the next 6 months or so, so won't be using it much.
Bought new from Hotrod Cameras in Feb 2015 - I upgraded from the Shogun and never looked back. This has been used with F35s, a7r2s and A7s cameras and I'm always delighted by it. There have been one or two glitches over the years but Mitch has always been there for us with support and firmware updates... and it's nothing like the horrorshow for me that owning the Shogun was.
My director / cinematographer buddy Matt Uhry added awesome custom-machined parts to fix its main flaws - EG its mini-sized HDMI input with no port protection and its lack of a good mounting point. He gave it a normal HDMI input and took the strain off the HDMI connector. Nice! Removable, of course...
Also included: a USB3-to-SSD adapter, the Convergent Design kit handle kit so you can convert Samsung SSDs to work with the Odyssey, and a Pelican case that the crew misspelled Odessey. I have left it on because it is fun.
I have no idea where the AC adapter is... I've been using it off Sony batteries for ages (it seemed to last considerably longer than the Shogun but your findings may vary, of course). You can buy the AC adapter for $60 here - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...sign_cd_od_ac_ps_odyssey_ac_power_supply.html
As pictured, there are also a couple of air bubbles on the plastic screen protector overlay, darn it. For some reason, AC decided to remove the old overlay, then we were in a hurry when we applied the new overlay. This can of course be fixed by getting a new overlay or (perhaps) by verrrry carefully re-applying this one.
