Odysee 7Q Buck Report...

Is it a Buck Report or is it just not how to use the 7Q: (I allready post pretty the same on Convergent facebook page)

I try to explain what happend!
1. SSD 1 Full (SSD 2 still some space)

So I put the SSD on a Mac and copied some files. After I deleted the files on the Convergent SSD. Computer shows like 300 GB free.
When I put it back in the 7Q it still says "SSD1 Full"

2. I format SSD 1 with the 7Q. When I now recorded 240fps RAW I coudnt watch the recording after. It was there. But I was not able to watch it on the screen. It just show me a black screen.

After turn it off on, did some other recording, I was able to watch the 240fps footage from before.

After the next recording of 240fps the same. Directly after I shoot it, the 7Q only shows me black, when I tried to watch it. Bit enoying for my customer....and myself...

But turn off/on doesnt help. I couldnt figure out what to do to see it, but after recording other not 240fps stuff, I was back able to watch the 240fps stuff.

Im pretty sure got something to do with RAID...but the recording is fine, just to watch it directly after shooting doesnt work...anybody with the same experience?

haven't seen that, but for what it's worth, I avoid doing anything with the Odyssey drives on the computer aside from transferring. I don't move anything, I don't delete anything. Once I'm done transferring, I put it into the 7Q and format it. Try formatting the drives again (both SSD1 and SSD2).

Yes definitely be careful not to change/delete any files on the SSDs on a computer. Never do anything to the drives besides copy files off them and format/record onto them in the 7Q. The 7Q seems to use a special file structure and keeps the whole SSD full all the time which, I assume, is so they can guarantee the type of writes happening on the drive and maintain high speed to guarantee being able to write at 450MBps at all times. I'm sure its brilliant but its also a bit annoying since it seems to be a proprietary folder structure that is very particular and unusual and probably quite confusing for the average user.

You're partially correct, but the big issue is actually that the computers like to stick directory files onto the SSDs which then screws up the operations on the Odyssey7Q. Computers use drives in a way to just search for available space to shove stuff. We use drives to efficiently load the material as well as read/write as fast as possible. Those two things are not mutually compatible.

Best procedure is much as described above. When you are done with an SSD on the Odyssey:
safe eject it
download the files onto your computer (perhaps using one of our utilities)
eject it from the computer
reinsert it into the Odyssey and reformat it there

I've had this issue with playback on both O7Q units I've had. Sometimes clips don't playback and only show a black screen, timecode does not run. I think this is a confirmed bug on the unit? (I always format SSD's in O7Q before recording).

Another issue I noticed on my last shoot was that if the take is long the clip plays back from middle, not from the beginning. It might be that it's because the clip is spread on multiple 4.3GB files and it only plays the last file? Mitch can you confirm if this is the case?

It would be very beneficial to have a list of known bugs/issues on CD website so that people don't have to freak out in front of clients on set. Also we'd know if we should report to CD or if it's being fixed already.

Yep, had the same issue. Nothing to do with deleting the files on the computer, as I've never done that. I've only ever the problem with HFR RAID. 100fps is always fine. 200fps is hit and miss. Scared the crap out of me the first few times. You already figured out the fix. Shut down, record another file and playback is working again. Not ideal, but at least you didn't lose the shots :)

Very much looking forward to playback improvements
