Odds of new 5-10k Panny Camera this year?

It's been 3 years, and Panny generally updates stuff on a ~3-year cycle, so I'd wild-ass-guess the chances of an AF-ish type update are fair to good

For 2013, probably not. For 2014 most likely.

I think Panasonic might be trying to do something like what Canon has, a cinema DSLR like the 1DC, and then cinema camcorders, which is what the next AF camera will be.

Since the rumored AG-GH4 (or whatever they end up calling it) is rumored to include 10bit 4:2:2 and a have an add-on option of a rumored XLR and 3G-SDI box, and that it's to compete against the C100/300, my bet is it is the AF100 replacement. Given the rumored specs of the AG-GH4, also releasing an MFT AF200 (or whatever) wouldn't make much sense, as the GH4 would undercut it. And releasing an S35 or FF 10bit 4:2:2 4K camera in the sub-$10k bracket would likely undercut their 4k Varicam.

I'm starting to suspect the AF100 will be the last of it's line... but so long as the GH4 (or whatever it's called) has even most of the rumored specs, as long as it's designed to be a video camera first (and really, who thinks to include 3G-SDI with a still camera?) I'm okay with that.

I don't usually participate in speculation threads, but I can have a wish list right? Especially since I'm due for a cam upgrade.

So imagine a series of cams which all have some cinema mojo. Start with the gh4, which might share sensors and image adjustments with the larger and more expensive cinema cams, but it would offer only what the gh3 does now except for the common sensor. Then imagine an updated af100 which most folks would be happy with if it had an updated sensor for a sharper image. Then a super-duper version with higher end features. Oh wait, Canon did that (mostly)! But I wish Panny would pull that together because, it would just be awesome. Did I mention I want better use of Canon glass. Take a lesson from Black Magic and offer it in both EF and micro mounts, or at least have a factory adapter; they could call it a Birger or something. And of course Panny could do this for less $$ than Canon. How about 2k for the gh4, and under 10k for the superduper, and the updated af100 for somewhere near the present price.

Well I can always dream.....
