Observation: 7Q records extra beginning frames and loses ending frames due to latency

Note: I'm not saying this is any kind of big issue; this is merely an observation of the latency caused by the FS700.

I have some 4K footage showing my finger hitting the (start) record button on the Odyssey screen. As in, the Odyssey was not recording, and then I hit record to start it, and this action was captured in the recording! haha. It struck me as so bizarre!

I guess because of the latency from the FS700, the moment you hit record, it begins recording some frames from the past (the frames that are arriving at the Odyssey the moment you hit record).
This would make sense, because what WASN'T captured was the moment I hit "stop". Those frames were still in transit from the FS700 and therefore were not captured by the Odyssey.

I would assume this only happens when you trigger the recording ON the 7Q itself. I use camera trigger mode, which is triggered through the SDI, so the record signal itself would lag along with the video.

Yes, I would assume you are right, unless the trigger signal can zip ahead of the RAW data somehow. But I assume it would have the same latency.
