Hello everyone. This is my first short film directing and it was part of a challenge that we had 1 week to make a silent movie and it ended up winning the event. Its a silent horror film. I tried to make the shoot as professional as possible regarding crew and equipment. It's a 10 minute short.

I would very much like if you guys could watch it and tell me any info, comments or critique that would help me torwards my next project.

Thank You!!!

Synopsis:

5 friends look for refuge in an abandoned house in the country. Strange things start happening when, one by one, they start commiting suicide. The only thing the deaths have in common is the influence of a stranger. Will anyone save themself from their own conscience? Or will the stranger bring death to them all?

Cool little film, i liked it a lot, the score went perfectly for the mood you were going for. Were these friends or actors? The performances were really good, and especially your creepy character. I liked the creative composition you used throughout and the movement added a lot as well. Technically you had some grain, but i really htink it worked in your favor here. Other than that, i really cant think of any major criticisms. I would have liked some sounds here and there, like when a cup is being dragged accross a table or something, but i guess that was out of hte bounds of the fest?

What was your workflow? What type of lighting did you use? Any other equipment? What type of grading did you apply? And what was that effect when the face was heating up/shiting to reddish?

I really enjoyed this film, in fact I enjoyed it so much I decided to make it the Short Film of the Week over at the blog i run, its the Diary of a No Name Film maker

You can check out your film featured as well as all the past winners here. By winning this you join the ranks of some very talented film makers from indie legends to the man Martin Scorcese himself.

I always encourage winners to post a comment talking about what it was like making the film, how you did it, what you experienced etc...

Congratulations.

Hi jon!

The grain actually was a mistake by the camera operator but I found it complemented nicely with the story. I wanted it to have more sounds but due to time constraints to deliver the project we couldnt work too much on it as we were running out of time. We only had 1 week to make the movie.

We used real actors instead of the dude with the bummed leg. Lighting was 1k fresnels, 700w tota, 500w omni and a 250w one. The grading I dont remember right now... I'll post more in depth at your blog thingy. Thanks!!!

Anyone else? :(

It was well-made and suspenseful. I have to admit that, by the end, I didn't understand how or why this stranger seemed to influence them to kill themselves. Maybe I wasn't supposed to know but I wanted to know.

hey! thanks for watching it. The problem was that we had to cut some scenes that we shot due to time constraints for the challenge. We had one scene where the stranger gave the first dude a knife. Then with the girl that uses the bag most of the footage was ruined because of lights and stuff. I should change a bit the synopsis because i dont think it portrays that very well
