Here is the idea:

Want to show the movie as if it was projected onto some sort of paper (texture). Here is the original:

We love to use Texture Blending for stills a lot:

Technique used:

The final movie was rendered in Photoshop CS4 Extended using a new script I created (may sell it). The script calls arbitrary actions in CS4 Extended that you can define for each frame. This is not very fast but extremely powerful.

Likely After Effects can do even more but I know CS4 very well and have now many new options.

This would be a nice effect for stills. For video...not so much - at least in my opinion.

Am curious why some of the footage (actually quite a bit) looks like it's being mildly stretched and twisted as if you had keyframed a 4 corner pin effect in After Effects. Was that to help simulate the idea of someone holding a piece of paper?

>looks like it's being mildly stretched and twisted as if you had keyframed a 4 corner pin effect in After Effects.

The footage was stabilized and this maybe the result of rolling shutter. Nothing to to with the blending.

Overall this was mainly a test. The texture is likely a bit on the stron side.

Okay...I could buy into the whole idea if it was simulating the movie as if it was projected onto some sort of paper that was gently blowing in the wind. :)

I have problems with the stabilization artifacts, but I really like the overall effect. I could see it being useful in a number of situations.

Interesting. But you say it's complicated to do?

Not really:

1. Need CS4 Extended

2. My script called "DOP_ActionVideoRunner" (not yet sold, but I can speed this up if there is demand (price likely 24.95). This script has way more applications. e.g. I added local contrast to the video using a CS4 plugin.

3. Texture

4. Simple action to create the effect
