O7q+ f35

I have found through various testing that unplugging the SDI A from the 7Q and plugging it back in a few moments later resets the image problems such as tearing, interlacing or split image. Even restarting doesn't usually fix problems however unplugging the SDI A connection has constantly fixed all image problems in playback and in live record.

Three notes:

1 - I have never seen this product in person so don't know anything about it.

2 - The Odyssey7Q+ OLED panel is 7.7", with a picture area (not including the top & bottom toolbars) of 7.5". I do not know if this device will cover the entire image.

3 - If the mounting covers the top & bottom toolbars, you will not be able to monitor the status of the Odyssey, use it's monitoring tools, or even properly mount or eject the SSDs. Depending on the physical size of the device this could be nearly impossible to functionally use with an Odyssey7Q+.

I was able to get up to 104 IRE on recording and playback according to the odyssey 7q in both the 2015.12 and 2015.11 firmwares.
I haven't brought into resolve yet as data levels but I'll check.

For those who may not realize, our Waveform display actually reads above 100 IRE. You can see where the signal reaches above this.

I can confirm the latest 2016.01 firmware has fixed the 50p issue!
Now we can have 12bit 444 and switch to 50p 422 with ease.

Thank you again Mitch Gross, Dan Keaton, and the entire CD workforce!

There was a problem! During the renovation of the dead battery. Who writes the error "previous odyssey update failed: please insert odyssey update drive" I insert samsung pro ssd with update file and nothing happens! :((

It's not good to let a battery die during a firmware update, but not necessarily fatal. The fact that you get the warning is a good thing, as our background "Golden Image" is still intact. When you say "nothing happens," do you mean that the error notice remains on the screen? Try unplugging power from the Odyssey, inserting the SSD and then powering up the Odyssey. When you insert the power connector it may not automatically turn on, so you may need to push the Power On button right next to the power input socket. You may get a black screen on the OLED display. Try plugging in a video (not RAW data) signal to the SDI A In port. This sometimes "wakes up" the OLED screen. Even if the OLED remains black, LET THE DEVICE SIT FOR ONE HOUR. It may actually be updating but you can't see it. After the hour, unplug and then re-plug the power and see if the Odyssey comes back to life.

If all this fails, please contact cdsupport@convergent-design.com. They may be able to help you recover by other means. The worst case scenario is that you will be issued an RMA and have to send it to us in Colorado where we will get it up and running again.

Thanks Mitch! but it did not help, and I turned into a support CD.

Could it be that I need to get the original SSD CD with the update? Odysseus could cost emergency operation that does not understand the SAMSUNG PRO SSD?

It's possible that the SSD and the update file was somehow effected when the update was interrupted by the power loss. Unlikely, but possible. Try a different SSD with the firmware update file. It doesn't matter if it is an Odyssey SSD or a qualified by CD Samsung SSD.

I'm new to the Odyssey and have a question about switching between these modes: could have sworn I saw a setup video at one point that showed the Odyssey auto detecting input as it was changed on the camera's subdisplay.

Mine does not auto switch. Each time I change the mode on the camera, I must go into the Odyssey menu, select between 422 and 444 then reboot it. Is that the expected workflow?

I'm on firmware 2016.01.1336 and have the master camera set to "SONY".
