I posted this in the marketplace, looking to buy one of these, but thought it might get a few more looks here. Mods, sorry in advance if that's frowned upon.
So today, my DC cable, part # VEK8722 for DVX100a, stopped working. It's that silver part that connects the power base station (where you charge your batteries) to the camera back to provide power from an outlet. The power base still works b/c the red power light comes on and it charges my batteries. But when I plug this cable into it, and then into my camera, my camera is getting no juice, no power.
I can buy a replacement from Panasonic, but the catch is, if that's not the problem (if it's something else) there are no returns on purchased parts, so i'd be out some money just for trying to troubleshoot.
So I turn to you, DVX users, specifically the ones in New York City. Would anyone be willing to let me borrow their cable so that I can check to see if this is in fact the problem? It wouldn't take any more than a few minutes and I could return it to you the next day. Or we could arrange a meet up or something and take care of it right there on the spot. I live in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn if you happen to be close. I guess this does present some logistical problems. Basically, I'm just trying to test this and figure out if that's the problem. I don't want to spend the cash and the shipping time only to find out that it's actually something else.
Can anyone help out a fellow DVX user? Or are there any other suggestions at troubleshooting this? Thanks in advance.
