NY1 chooses HVX-200

Stations all over the world are adopting 'em. At NAB seven months ago Panasonic announced that they had over 300 stations shooting on the P2 system. Even in my tiny hometown of Wilmington NC, at least two of the local TV affiliates are using HVXs! TV3 in NZ is all P2, I did a training session at NDTV in India and they had a *lot* of HVXs, way more than NY1! Panasonic's market presence in SE Asia was very strong. From what I saw and those I spoke to there, there's practically no HD action happening in SE Asia, so they were all using those HVXs (and the other, bigger P2 cameras) for standard-def, but they moved to HVXs for the P2 workflow. And once I showed 'em how integrated EDIUS is with it and how EDIUS fulfills the potential that the tapeless workflow promises, well, I wouldn't be surprised if Canopus got a surprising number of orders from India, Singapore and Malaysia!

Of course they are, that's the whole reason they bought the HVX. They're not even shooting HD with them, they're shooting SD to tapeless P2.

I don't know how many cards they carry with them, but news stories don't typically shoot a ton of footage, and seeing as you can get over an hour's worth of DV on two 8GB cards without swapping, I'd suspect that's probably what they're running.

And if they have a P2 Store, they can offload 1/2 hour worth of video in about five minutes.

Are they using P2 cards? And if so, how many do they have on hand on a typical shoot?

"survey says", probably about 40 or 50 . . . ha ha ha ha.

(you don't give up easily do you?)

The German ZDF broadcaster ( National broadcaster with 15 studio' s in Germany and 19 studio's around the world) invested in an unknown number AJ-SPX900 camcorders and P2 equipment. They also bought 2 AJ-HDC27FE Varicams for HD productions.

They are going to use the SPX900 in the 15 German studio's.
