From the h264 vs h265 image comparos I've seen on the net, h265 wins out in the image quality area with better detail, even with smaller file sizes. I think Samsung made the right choice.... h265 is better for aquisition.
For some reason, Powerdirector (Cyberlink) transcodes h265 very quickly on my machine... just slightly slower than real time... outputting to xavc (at 200000 mbps), which is then imported to Premiere CC for editing.
Once Premiere gets native h265 codec, I'll be in heaven. The footage from the Samsung Nx1 is absolutely stunning. I had the Panasonic G7 camera for a week, and while I do like the camera a lot, the NX1 is simply better.
