NTSC - Why Not?

Even though I will most likely get an HMC15x, there are always more people in the 200/170, so I thought I’d ask here.

It’s different with DV NTSC 720x480 23.976fps and PAL 720x576 25fps. But now with HD it is all the same (I think) 1920x1080 and down, only the fps is different.
So living in AUS with PAL 50i and 25p, shouldn’t I just get a NTSC 60i and 30p camera and remove frames for PAL?
Even with the currency conversion and adding GST it would cost less (over $500)!

Also, when it comes to HD for the internet, doesn’t it become irrelevant anyway?

The only difference is the frame rate that is correct.
Removing the extra frames is NOT a good idea, it gives some jerky moves and is stupid. If you get a HPX170, you can do both 60hz and 50hz frame rates.

Not with the HPX170, you'd have to get an HPX171 to get both 60Hz and 50Hz.

And you could do the same with the HMC151E, it supports 50 and 60Hz.

Yer Barry. The 151 would be preferable. It’s just that I know people in the US that could get me a 150, so through them I could work the 3yr warranty. But I don’t know anyone in Europe. That’s why I was just wondering how the quality would be affected if you removed 1 out of every 6 frames. Considering that in PAL the frames were never there in the first place. But I guess it would only work if rather than removing every 6th, you dropped every frame in the 30 to = 0.83333 each . That also comes out at 25fps.
Why the hell couldn’t they just make every camera (the world over) interchangeable like the 151. Or better yet, everywhere have the same FPS
