NTSC Vs PAL--DVX100A

I'm working in Israel and am looking for that "film look". I've been told to go with PAL, since that's the format here--This may be a dumb question, but Does the 25fps(PAL) have the same look as the 24fps(NTSC)--And any idea how long till the new PAL version of DVX100A will be out? And Where to buy one in Europe?

You should definitely go for the PAL version. You won't notice any difference between 24p and 25p, and PAL is a better system than NTSC (better resolution, better colors). If you had lived in NTSC land though, I wouldn't suggest the PAL version, but since you don't.. go for PAL!

i don't think we will see the DVX100A before spring. but it's just a guess.
you could get the cheapest PAL models from new zealand and singapore. in europe it's not much cheaper than israel, not to mention the custom dangerous.

there is no custom on video cameras in israel,but you will have to pay VIT if you ship it alone .there are castom tax on lenses (depend on the weight of the lens),mikes ,preamps and amps ,batteries,radio tx,rx
no tax on mixers and cables

about customs.. in some cases, like here in europe, just because the camera is able to record on VCR mode, it's being shifted to higher tax level.. (from 0% to 15%)
but if you have an experience with that.. well, that's good news.

i have expiriense with the israelly castom , i own some gear ,mainly soud gear but i deal with cameras as well ( i have 2) ,lets say that you dont want to buy sound here ,the cameras on other hand had the europian price tag as been exported here from sony or panasonic in europ and not from japan,thats why the price between far east and europ( and israel ) can be 10-20% less
for thos who looking for good price on non euroe products the far east is the cheapest place for pal ,for audio gear the states is a heaven for non europian products (us or japanise made) .the europe if dont have amistake have 6% castom on electronic that comes inside and dealers that cut much hiegr % proffit
of proffit ,the same fostex recorder can be 1500$
less in us then in germany or holland (with out vit)
I try to buy the products that i use in countries which make the product
