NTSC to PAL HELP

I need help. I'm in Nigeria helping a filmmaker make a project here on video. We want to use the DVX 100a NTSC version camera but are worried about getting the resulting footage onto PAL (since ultimately the film will be distributed on PAL video here in NIgeria). He loves the look of the camera but I don't want him to be stuck with a poor NTSC to PAL transfer.

What is the solution, does 24p NTSC to PAL work? Can someone point me to a web resource on this topic? Any help appreciated?

Re: NTSC to PAL HELP

Depends which software is used. Some software does it better and others poor (depending on codecs they are using). The simple way is to finish your NTSC work (capture, edit, apply effects and transitions etc.) AND THEN export using "PAL DV" template, but make sure you select "PROGRESSIVE" or "NO DEINTERLACING" in one of the export settings of your software.
After exporting, you will now have a PAL DV file which you import into a new PAL DV project of your software. Of course, in order to "Export to tape" via firewire (i-link) to a DV Hardware (for ex. camcorder with DV in/out) it needs to be a PAL DV Hardware.

Some say shooting with 60i mode is the best (for conversion) but so far, 24PA mode imported and edited in software that removes 2-3-3-2 pulldown, and then carefully exported like above said, works very well.

Good luck!
