ntsc 170 camera in Middle East - can I use it?

Does anyone have any experience shooting 1080i (or 720) in PAL territory with an NTSC camera? What are the basics for pulling this off?

The footage would be coming back to the US and eventually broadcast in 1080i, most likely only in the US.

Is it as easy as setting the shutter speed to 1/100? I've only shot interlaced HD before, not 720p, but certainly can do that if that helps? I just don't know! Any help or suggestions with this type of shoot would be truly appreciated.

Any other considerations to be aware of beyond shutter speed with the camera?

I'm confused. If you're going to be using the footage in US, you shoot as you normally would (as long as it's an NTSC camera).

From what I'm reading online is the main problem of flicker in the footage, from the 50 Hz power rate, NTSC is designed for 60Hz. Natural light wouldn't be a problem, but most of this will be shot indoors. What I'm understanding is that the overseas power is the root of why it's 25fps (50Hz) and 30fps(60Hz).

As a rule, don't use 1/60 in PAL land. I can't say I've shot while plugged into an outlet, but I don't think that would interfere.

Sorry, I wasn't clear about the power, I meant the lights are powered by the 50Hz, 220/230 type power and the 50Hz makes lighting flicker differently. The camera will be on batteries essentially, but I think we figured out the logistics since we now have an experienced overseas videojournalist on board who has delivered the footage back to the US. What I've learned, from all sources, is the shutter is the key and keep it at 1/100, a easy fraction of 50 and the 50Hz, and mininmizes (or eliminates) any lighting power cycling being picked up on camera.

It's the same reason Barry says, never, ever, ever use shutter off of the default 1/60 in NTSC and 1/50 in PAL lands when using fluorescents or HMI, I think??

If anyone has any other helpful tips, beyond shutter, on any aspect of this NTSC camera being used in PAL land, please do post them here. I do plan on updating the project after it happens in early July for future searches on the subject.
