Hi All

I'm new to the field of audio.

I own a Canon 7D, and Rode shotgun Mic The NTG-2

As u all know, there seems to be a problem with the AGC (Audio Gain Control) for the Canon 7D, and when i connect the mic directly to the 7D it seems to catch up a hiss tone.

i read through the web that i can get a decent sound when i connect the NTG-2 with Zoom H4N

the question is how can i connect the NTG-2 through the Zoom H4N and the Canon 7D ? i mean which cables shall i buy in order to get a decent sound ?

and if you can give me the names of the cables

im kind of new to all this

thanks all in advance

Hi Mesho. You can connect an NTG-2 to an H4n, and then connect the headphone output to the mic input on the 7D. The cable you would use to do that is a Sescom LN2MIC-ZMH4-MON:

The thing is, since you cannot disable the AGC on the 7D, the audio feed you send to the camera from the H4n will still have that uneven "pumping" ambiance sound, because the sound being recorded into 7D is still hitting the 7D's AGC circuit. The recording in the H4n will sound better (providing that you set the levels properly and positioned the mic in the sweet spot), and you'll have better results when you sync the externally recorded H4n audio.
