NSFW Comedy/Action/Horror Short Film shot on Sony FS-100

Follow up to my 2011 short "Roid Rage" about a dude with killer hemorrhoids on his bunghole (old trailer so that the follow up makes a little more sense: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyc8wdBaSCo).

This was shot in 1.5 days almost all with a single, 100 watt edison bulb & a battery powered LED as a backlight. I'd literally set up a backlight with the Edison hanging overhead, then point & shoot. Some of this was shot with an Atomos Ninja. That footage seemed to hold up better when heavy color correction was needed.

Sorry for the occasional crappy audio...all I had was the FS-100's kit mic mounted to camera.

Hilarious! I have forwarded this link far and wide. Looks fantastic ( and I think you have modified the ADR from the original trailer?)

The Fs100 is capable of great things, as you ably demonstrate.

DUDE, YOUR OUT OF YOUR FRICKEN MIND. In a good way.:) lol...... this was out there, but very entertaining. loved it.

Thanks dudes... @JMartin if you're referring my horrid VO in the trailer, yeah I messed with it. We literally had no budget & couldn't afford a proper voice artist!

I did find an awesomely cheap narrator for about $40 on voicejockeys.com & recut the trailer though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekLvChWWM6k

Anyway...the moral of the story is that I love the FS-100 & it really allowed me to push some boundaries that I couldn't cross with a Canon DSLR...mainly the lowlight performance & the way you can manipulate extremely uneven lighting ratios in post.

I liked the gore FX quite a bit, and very nicely shot with your available lighting.

What did your budget run you, did you do the makeup fx yourself, or have someone come in and work for you?

Yes I did notice the new VO in the trailer (a great improvement and a bargain too!), but I was referring to the audio in the scene with the microscope ("I haven't seen this since Chernobyl"). Now I realise in comparing the two that you used a different version of that scene in the second trailer (also an improvement!)

Anyway congrats on the Christmas Special, would be keen to hear how you found shooting with the NINJA (still no LANC trigger? Using an HDMI splitter or daisy chain from another monitor or EVF?)

@Rob - I spent around $3,500-4,000 mainly on costumes, props, and gore (an SPFX guy was hired to help). 3 of the actors were hired but the rest were friends.

@JMartin - If you look at the first version of the lab scene, it's actually defocused 40oz beer bottles & Keystone Light cans that naturally littered the actor's bedroom (looked a bit like lab equipment I guess)...our college let us use a chemistry lab to re-shoot the scene.

For monitoring, I actually used the FS-100's built in LCD with peaking switched on to hold focus. I shot crewless for 80% of the shoot because my extra camera guy/1st AD/grip had to play the Meth Cook who gets beheaded. We went ultra-guerrilla on this thing!
