My light didn't come with a little allen wrench to tighten down the part that sits on the stand. It says use the Allen Key Number 10 (50nm/37 lbs foot pressure). I have no idea what this is and I can't find anything about it online. Where can I get one of these? It's a pretty big allen wrench socket, bigger than any I've got sitting around.

Just go to a decent hardware store - if you have a locally owned shop (in the US it would be an Ace, or an independent) staffed with old guys who know everything, they'll hand you one instantly. If you go to a big-box store, you may have to hunt it up yourself. If possible, take the socket you need the wrench for (the manufacturer may have changed the bolt but forgot to change the instructions).

Allen wrenches come in sets and singles. They come in a sort of pocket-knife set that fans out. The singles look like little "L" shaped rods. If this is a fitting you need to adjust often on set (say, crane weights, stuff like that), look for the LONG allen wrench with the looped t-handle - easier to turn and harder to lose. Spray paint the handle bright orange for extra credit.

If this is something you have to turn constantly, like to attach lights to a stand - see if you can find the appropriate threaded thumb-screw or t-handle and replace the allen bolt with something you can hand tighten.

Either way, you should keep metric and US allen wrench fan-out things in your tool bag.
