GH5 Now with the BM Pocket 4K the GH5s seem expensive and obsolete

Although I was originally considering the BMPCC4K, I've changed my mind because of the cost of managing two different systems. Two sets of batteries, two to three different sets of media, different cages, different run times, different features, etc. The only thing interchangeable between my GH5S and the BMPCC4K are my lenses. And this is the last thing I need on a multi cam shoot. Even with a possible reduction in quality, I'm better off buying another GH5S than the pocket 4K.

Yeah, if the primary use is for multicam shoots, I agree that your are better off with two of the same. The GH5s is close enough to "the same" as to count, so long as you are okay with the color being a little different.

Maybe RAW can let me more easily match BMPCC4K to the GH5S, but if I need to do a time lapse, focus pull, VFR or gimbal swap, you can see why I rationalize just spending another $1K for process simplification.

You know you could get two Pocket 4Ks for the price of that one 5s, right? Sell you're current 5s and you've got three cameras and maybe enough for another lens.

Or we could all just let people use what they want to use. This isn't a popularity contest and we don't all need to convince each other what camera they should use. I see nothing wrong with a world where people happily use the 4k Pocket and people love to use the GH5S. There is no such thing as a waste of money here. List price is insignificant to those that actually earn money with these cameras and not always the determining factor.

If somebody wants to buy two Pockets that is awesome and they should totally go and do that. If somebody wants to buy a GH5S that is totally awesome as well. Nobody is stupid either way. The Pocket is an awesome choice for those that want it and the Gh5S is an excellent choice for those that want it. There is no right or wrong here.

Its like a hamburger vs a steak. Sure the steak may be of higher quality but that isn't always true. A burger from Culvers is better than a steak from Denny's. That burger can also be picked up from a drive through and eaten in the car on the way to work. You don't have to leave a tip when you buy the burger either. To each their own.

Can we please just leave it at that?

I have the original pocket and a GH4. Love em' both.

The Pocket 4K is just specs on a sheet at the moment. It's meaningless until it's been released in the wild and we can see how well and reliably it performs in the real world.

The GH5/GH5s are known entities with a track record. WAY too earlier to say that they are now obsolete.
