Now this is a head shot!

We are in the process of using a program called CrazyTalk4 to do an animation bit in my film, a head shot of Osama bin Laden talking and in the process his head is going to be blown up. (Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!) But I lost the Guy who was going to do the 30 frames that show the explosion to a new job for him, one that pays more money instead of small money and/or film points like I can offer. So if there is anyone out there who has any ideas on how to take a photo of Osama and photo shop or Paint.net an explosion blowing his head off, post a reply. I can pay a small sum $200.00 (Or a point if you are a gambling man or woman) for the work and supply you a good picture of him to use.

Or if you have any pointers that you can post that could help us. We can use the bloody stump pumping blood or just a smoking stump of his neck as the final transition shot. There is more to this of course but I don’t want to give away too much on this scene right now. So if any of you can help or have some ideas that would help let me know. I have Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 suite including After Effects, for use on my PC and FCP studio on the G-5, but CrazyTalk is only for a PC so I’ll have to import the final scene into FCP at the end to put it into the film. Thanks.

Just in case there is any misunderstanding this scene is a bit of black comedy, not just a scene of violence.

David, If you haven't found anyone yet, I might be interested. I'd need to know a bit more about the look you're going after (cartoony, realistic, quasi realistic, etc) to know if I can realistically do it at the price you mention.

By the way, I purchased crazytalk a few months ago. I haven't learned it well enough to put it into my workflow, but perhaps having it might help in file transfers and such.

You can see some of my work by watching the video on my website (see my sig below).

Do a simple Monty Python thing, where the head opens like a lid, then matte the explosion inside, but do a matte to constrain it inside the open lid of the head

not sure how crazy talk works, but how about either placing the photo on a balloon or making a life size model of the head, then filming that. using that image for crazy talk to move the lips, and the blowing up the baloon or model with some good ole fire crackers?
Just a thought. (hey maybe a watermelon might work. make some cuts on it to aid the blowing up and whamo!!!! bin laden go bye bye!!!)

I'm looking for a more realistic look for this shot. CarzyTalk can take a picture and animate its mouth and eyes so that it looks to the casual observer that the picture looks like a video, not an animated picture. The mouth moves in sync with the words so it is somewhat realistic. It won't fool the pros, but that isn't the point of this scene, poking some fun at his beliefs and terrorist practices and blowing up Osama's head is. But thanks for the suggestion Rush.

CrazyTalk with Osama's head and a photo shopped explosion would be easier than this and more realistic looking, and I want to use a real pic of him so that no Islamic fundamentalists can say we are insulting Mohammad or Islam. Of course they will hate us anyway for insulting Osama, but they already do now so what’s the difference?

Hey Chuck, I’m looking for a more realistic look up to the point that is possible with CrazyTalk. Below is a site that has free explosions for use in situations just like this one. I think that we remove the background in the Osama pic and replace it with either the dark background or the daylight background in the free explosion files so that the transition from his pic to the aftermath of the explosion looks more realistic. Your site animation is great by the way, I'm sure that you would have no trouble with this exercise.
The film is SciFi and the look I'm looking for is a breaking live news shot from al Jezera of Osama talking about his latest terror weapon, which malfunctions.

Here is a site that has free detonations one of which can be used for this effect. http://www.detonationfilms.com/free_stuff.htm

I used crazy talk for a company video I did at work, it was hilarous, people were rolling on the floor, luckily the guys we did it to were amused as well. I just took a picture I had of them, resized it for crazytalk, removed the background and put in the same background as the other actors who were real. I think tha fact that we had to use our voice to record and change it some was why it was so funny.

Yes it can be a fun program, you should hear what I have Osama saying just prior to his head getting its just deserts.
On another front there is another program called iClone by the same people that allows you to put a crazytalk head on one of their clone bodies and then you can have an animated scene with characters doing different stuff. I plan on using that program to have some high government types doing a version of whack-a-mole with Osama as the mole.

Thanks for your nice comment. I'm up for doing this if you are. I'll PM you with further information (contact info, questions, etc.)
