Now that Shake is discontinued....

a couple of people are looking into that, we should know if the optical flow in motion has been improved to the level of shake soon

What will we have to do decent 30p to 24p conversions?

I have a copy of SoundEdit 16 on my hard drive, my version is from 1998 - it was discontinued more than half a decade ago - still works fine today and I use it pretty much everyday.

If shake is able to do decent 30p to 24p conversions why not continue to use it ?

I'll be on the lookout for those results.
I'd also like to see other tests, like compositing.

Understood, If FCS3 isn't up to speed, I'll have to seek out a copy elsewhere since I'm not currently an owner. Really shouldn't be too hard, and I suppose it's better that it happen now than after paying for it.

+ it will probably be cheaper now !

What are apple replacing it with ? Has all the functionally ended up somewhere else like Motion or FCP ?

Check out Glue Tools. They just developed a FCP plugin that does the conversion and MORE. It was recently sold to Canon so who know when it will be released but what it does are the things that professionals really need (assigning time code and souce number to all clips...30 to 29.98 for BOTH vido and audio). Google it!

maybe that's canons 24p solution for the MKII. well they should give it to MKII users for free!

nothing.

where's the 30p>24p glue tools beef?

somebody on cinema5D mentioned it does 24p that's all I know.

This is purely speculative but I have a feeling canon can't get 24p right in firmware and a hardware upgrade is too much trouble so they are looking at a software solution until they bring out a new model with 24p.
