Now, BACK from NAB2006--what was the ONE cool thing you liked (besides RED)?

I'm gonna see if Kevin would be open to transferring that stuff to film. I also hope he'll let us use it in the HD Bootcamp presentations so people can see how great the HVX can look up when blown up on a big screen.

For those who don't know, Kevin Railsback, the genius shooter at www.SilverPhoenixLLC.com, sent me a bunch of new never-before-seen wolf and cougar footage for use in the variable-frame-rate workshop. Jaw-dropping stuff, incredible footage. The guy has major skills (and he's a member of this forum, I believe his ID is "n8ture". So those who came by that booth saw some stuff nobody's seen before, and it was incredible.

No lens adapters, no mini35 or telephoto or anything, just one incredibly talented shooter using one incredibly great camera to shoot some incredibly compelling action. Thanks to Kevin for granting permission to use it, he really made me look good! :)

Barry,

I got a better look at that AB Elipz system after we spoke and noted that the power tap is only for their dedicated light. Still, it is a small on-camera light suitable for DVX/HVX and you have a choice of 10, 15 or 25 watt bulb.

Barry,
I find it incredible that you could use incredibly so many times in a sentence. :)
I guess the wolf footage will be the stuff that everything I shoot from now on will be judged by. No pressure there. :)
Wait til you see my maple tree sap collection footage! :)

I just point the camera and hit the record button. It's the camera and the subjects that do all the magic.

Just autograph my HVX book when I order it Barry and we'll call it even. :)

I wish I could have made it to NAB this year but Utah had so much going on that I couldn't tear myself away.

Sounds like I missed allot of good people and a great time.

yes.. I kept pointing to Kevins footage when someone asked about if it was really HD from the HVX and if it looked good.

NHK's Ultra HD was the top cool for me.. but the matrox box and that LED color light where very cool.

A small and inexpensive tool, or should I say, upgrade of a tool, had me smile more then usual. DVRack announced support for the HVX200. That's cool. Makes me want to sell my DVX100B right away and buy the HVX200 right now... Well, it's the week end, so next Monday... Damn, on a shoot Monday... OK Tuesday. :)

SI-1920HDVR cool or not cool?

SI-1920HDVR cool or not cool?

Did anyone think the SI-1920HDVR was cool?

Here is some footage from Vegas:

That was my first NAB.

I was like a little boy in the middle of 1 million Tonka trucks....

Me and my two friends Bernard and Guy walked at least 15 km each day, minimum !

...and we saw Le cirque du soleil and Céline Dion. Great shows.

It was great to speak with Graeme and Jim at the Red booth, Victor, Serge, Barry and Jan at the Panasonic booth, Jean Guy at the Apple booth etc... etc...

NAB was a great event. I like to speak with people.

I'll be there with my friends next year.

i was on your side till you started saying how good Celine Dion is..

your on your own my friend :)

Jarred Land, Emanuel,

Beeing a music composer and Progressive Rock/Blues guy, i must admit that, at first, this is not the same kind of music...

But since one year, i do a lot of broadcast music for TV programs, network promos etc...
...so maybe i am becoming more "pop" orientated....he hee...

...but i must admit sincerely that i liked very much what i heard and saw from Céline Dion and his band. It doesn't look and sound like when it's on TV. Not at all.
She has so much energy. She could easily sing Rock songs. Powerfull voice, really !

Next year, we'll see the Beatles show at Le Cirque du Soleil...should be fun !

Behind the Dion's example, what's important is the significance what being pop means with some exceptions like Beatles were. :)
