not too happy with glidetrack, what else can I try?

I've had a 50cm glidetrack for a year or so and I find it is often needing to be sprayed with silicone spray and occasionally given a knock with a rubber mallet on the bottom. Even then when I use it on a tripod (with a tripod plate screwed onto the bottom) I find it judders and sticks slightly in the middle. Its not touching/rubbing on the plate in any way so i can't work it out.

On the floor it seems ok but on the tripod it is a real pain.

I'm after something of similar length to replace this with and give this to my 2nd operator.

Would love some suggestions. Thanks

I just got a Konova Slider and it's superb for the price. No binding at all and a nice amount of drag (plus a brake) to get smooth pulls.

Thanks guys it looks good. Judging from the pics you can remove the feet is that right? Would you still be able to use it on the ground without the feet or would the underside of the platform rub on the floor?

does anyone have any other contenders as it seems the konova is a no go in the UK unless I really pay through the nose, so I just wanted to check there was nothing to rival it?

i hate living in the UK.

Can't get this anywhere without paying a ton of extra duty/tax

Don't worry with Taxes.. I just got an order of 300 Dollars from the US, marked down to 80 dollars.. Opened and examined by customes. Closed up an released.

No hassle whasoever, no questions asked!

but why didnt you have to pay import on it? I've bought 7 or 8 things over £100 from the US and paid tax on 100% of them :(

You might try this product (CorrosionX), or their 'general purpose' version of it.

CorrosionX

I've taken to using their general purpose marine lubricant around the house/garage, and it's vastly superior to the countless other products I've used over the years. It loosened rusty bolts on my Jeep that wouldn't budge after hours of soaking with Liquid Wrench and an acetylene torch.

I stumbled onto the stuff after years of using their auto/aircraft sealant (which also works amazingly well). No affiliation, and no discounts etc - just a very impressed customer.

The only caveat might be the need to keep the track dusted, as I imagine some dust would be attracted over time. Maybe the 'gun' lubricant would be less likely to attract dust? You'll find it quite useful around the house otherwise, so it couldn't hurt to try it.

Anyway, good luck.
