FS7: Not Recording Audio!! Need Urgent Help

Hope I'm posting this in the right place.. I work for a production house where we have 2 FS7 and one of them has recently stopped recording sound. It doesn't even seem to receive any input from the internal microphone. I have tried flipping the input from channel 1 to channel 2 and yet it still wasn't receiving anything. Don't really know much about cameras as i am the sound guy (and a bit of a noob at that as well) but it usually doesn't record sound when "S&Q" mode is on and it is turned off.. Does anybody know anything about this? It's probably not a firmware issue as both cameras have the same version installed and the other one works just fine

Update: sorry for the really late update but i had a car crash as i was heading to work and i've had surgery stuff to deal with.. the camera is fixed we did a reset.. naturally as you were i later checked the 2 cables i had tested the camera with and both of them were damaged meaning that was probably the issue all along.

Have you swapped the microphones and checked there is no issue there? Important to rule that out. I would probably make sure there is no hidden menu difference issue by copying the camera profile from the good camera over to the bad (Im an FS5 owner, I presume there is a similar system for backing up and copying camera profiles on the FS7). This way you'll guarantee the cameras are set up identically, then you know it's a hardware issue.

Have you checked the Audio Input menu setting? It might be set to 'shoe'.

Failing that try an ALL RESET. You'll find it under SYSTEM in the menu.

BTW, it never records sound in S&Q mode.

hello my friend and thanks for you reply.. we have already gone by all of the settings under audio in both cameras and checked that they are identical.. i have also switched the physical input to channel 2 to check as to whether it is a hardware issue.. both to no avail

Nope.. which is really confusing me.. i did try flipping the input and internal microphones from their respective channels but again no sound

At the moment looking for a way to avoid the All reset due to the hassle it will create for the D.O.P. The audio input is in channel 1.. i've also tried channel 2 (with internal microphone in channel 1) ..

Save an all file with everything how it is right now so you can always load it back up once you have reset.
