Not making sense.

Hey guys,
Working with Avid Express. Everything is playing fine in the source monitor (audio, video, etc.), however, when I drop it into the timeline and hit play, there's a flashing outline around the timeline monitor for about a second and nothing will play. I would've guessed it to be the typical "Can't play audio" issue when you don't have a Sound Blaster but the fact that the audio will play in the source monitor makes me think that it might be something different.

the record side monitor window cannot be covered by any other windows or bins and cannot be partially off the computer screen. make sure it is completely clear and visible.

don't feel stupid. i've seen countless editors run into this. some were driven insane by it.
