Not LOG but...

Ive been really happy with using the cinegamma's and getting WYSIWYG. But for fun today I tried setting up a custom STD gamma and using manual knee and black gamma (black gamma seems to have no effect when in the cinegammas)

So I tried the first STD gamma in the gamma menu
Knee to ~70
brought the knee sat down a bit as well as lowered the matrix level a bit
black gamma up to 99

Im sure something about this is really dumb- and it does throw the matrix off axis. But there may be something worth looking into here- im finding a bit of extra info not in the cinegammas.

If you have time, play around with it and see if im not crazy. (something to do while waiting for s-log anyways)

See attached (first is cinegamma 4, then STD custom flat setting, then STD custom tweaked in post to bring down the blacks) - if you look at my little girls face and shirt you can see how much more seems to be there- and yes my wife is pregnant.

No exposure change and taken within the same time (just rolled the PP button to hop back and forth)

Edit: Pictures in post below.

It looks interesting. You'll need to test to see if you're actually preserving more details. You may have gone a bit too far in the last image. Its a daylight scene and it looks a bit too dark.

I'm sometimes using a slightly flattened PP too.

Your right about it looking- I was mainly looking at the highlight info (which seems like more but of course need more testing). S-LOG Where are you?
