NORMAL-Audible noise on standby

Hi
I haven't noticed this before, but now that I'm really focused on audio I have noticed that my DVX has a hum and it gets louder in cycles. Is this part of the normal quirky sounds? It's not excessive but noticeable in a quiet room.
thanks for the help.

Re: NORMAL-Audible noise on standby

I just finnished using my DVX to record some voiceovers and it was done in a real quiet room. No hum at all, just the odd clickety clack of fly feet on the wall.

Ahh...but now I read your post again and you say on standby. I was not recording in standby. :D Are you talking about a recorded hum or a mechanical hum from the camera?

Re: NORMAL-Audible noise on standby

..if your talking about a recorded hum, my serious guess is that you were in a room nearby a device that makes noise ike a refridgerator, or air conditioner or water runnig in pipes in walls. or ceiling fan, or other fan, or road noise from outside or somthing like that. most people dont notice those noises because we are so used to them that we completely tune them out, but when you put headphones on or sit in a sound dead room with some nice nearfield monitors you listen for every little sound, and your like "what on earth is that noise!"

if your talking about mechanical hum from the camera .. when the camera is in rec standby mode, the heads are still spinning so that you can start recording at any time without having to spin up the heads again. your probably hearing the head mech noise.
