Hey Guys

i was wonder what would be the cheapest, very flexible, and productive..

digital or film no matter

this forum is slightly biassed towards the DVX my man. Even so, compared to what else is available the DVX is the best choice.

I'd probably get a canon A1 over the DVX if i was going to buy one now. But I have a 100a and am very happy with it, but damnit i wish it had native 16x9 lol

Actually I'd get an HVX, but you said cheaper.

And so yet another journey begins. Probably more articulate than my first post here. good luck.

Nice.
:)

So....the cheapest, most flexible, and productive digital or film camera?

Well -

What is your budget range? I mean - for the money you should probably get a RED. Those are pretty flexible.
Speaking of which, what do you mean by flexible? Multiple formats? Multiple framerates? Dyanmic range? Low light capability? Interchangeable lenses? \
And while we're at it...what do you mean by productive?
The camera that produces the most stuff?

If you do a little research, get a bit familiar with what's out there, read over the forums and then clarify your questions to something specific you'll probably get much more detailed answers.

REDs the best quality for the money, but I'd have to say the HVX is more flexible.

you can set it up for full on feature production, or you can take all the extra crap off and have a light weight hand held HD camera with almost infinite DoF. Or you can even shoot to hour long miniDV tape.

That said, I've already put my money down for a RED ONE, but i know there will be the rare situation where I will I will be cursing how dificult it is to nail focus and wish it was smaller/lighter.

...VERY rare situation ;)

I agree with the cheese man. Red, if thats the budget youre talking about.

But to Cheese, actually using simple best practice, its going to be pretty straight forward on focus. When you want a focus puller to pull it comes down to cam ops hitting the marks, actors hitting the marks. But measure the marks and iits pretty straight forward. Dont rely on lense / monitor - measure it out.

Get a Bell & Howell Filmo 16mm with interchangeable prime lenses...

You can use it to shoot black and white or colour

You can use the single frame feature for animation

You can use it as crash camera

You can use it to build muscle

You can use it to hammer nails

You can use it to crack open walnuts

You can use it to brain home invaders

...and after all that, you wind the spring, and the things still runs.

How much more flexible can you get for $200-500?
