Ok noob question here. Might be the dumbest questions but....What advantages will I have if I use the latest firmware?(from thread"GH1 firmware research volunteers required'" what disadvantages? Is there a how to on the pages here? I bought my Gh1 last feb and did not do any updates to it...should I have done so? I still don't have a pulldown program.....Should I buy a pulldown program or should I wait till a video editing program puts the pulldown into their product? If I do have to buy one....what program would you guys recommend? I know these are allot of questions but I know there is some of you out there that can answer all of them. Thanks

Basically

Basically

Depending on the options, you may not be able to view the clips in-camera;

1080p, native 24/25 no
New mjpeg, possibly no

Everything else, disable 30min limit, euro pal, OK
ntsc to pal, OK
pal to ntsc, OK.

Improved audio, ac3 bit rate, not sure.

The objective is to get the bit rate up and move from 1080i to 1080p, however, Tester13 is focused on using high bit rate mjpeg as an alternative to avc. This is good and bad, good as it may solve the mud, bad becuase we are using very high bit rates and the fps is stubborn at 30fps, if it can be made to work at 24fps and then scaled to 1080, bingo.

From what I've been following, isn't the recording length stuck at a lesser and lesser time as the bit rate goes up (on MJPEG)? Haven't I seen that you can only do <2min clips with the raised bitrate?
