Hey!

I am playing with my camera and I have 2 questions. First is, what does the AE Shift do? My second question is whats the difference between shooting 24p 2:3:3:2 pulldown and 24p 2:3?

Thanks A lot!
Tim

p.s Sorry if i am posting this in the wrong section.

I am working with an XL2. Just wondering which would make the image better? Shoot 24p 2:3:3:2 pulldown or 24p 2:3?

Shoot 24p if you want to edit on a 29.98 timeline, and shoot 24pA if you want to edit on a 23.976 timeline. That's all that matters.

I would guess AE shift favors under or over exposure (depending on how it is set) when in Auto Exposure mode.

They say 24p advanced is better than 24p, it's more filmic or something like that...

It's not more "filmic." The motion cadence is the same. With 2:3:3:2 it's easier for your NLE to remove the extra frames and so you end up with better quality footage.

And as Bennis already said AE shift "bias" your camera for either under or overexposure depending on how it's set. I've never use it. For best result use zebra to detect blown out area and correct accordingly.
