Noob Power director workflow.

I see a lot of posts about using the AVCHD files in different editing progs and they have got me worried as it seems too simple for me.

If I want to see one of my movies... i just go into private... stream... and open the file in media player. I can watch it fine!

What is all this stuff about needing to copy entire directories to see things in HD. Doing it this way do i lose quality?

Then.. for editing.. I can just open power director.. again look in the stream folder for the relevant MTS and drop it into the programme - not doing anything with the rest of the file structure.

Is this wrong? What should I be doing?

Cheers.

OK... can I ask a slightly different question that would still help me with this then?

There is a complex file structure for AVCHD. I have read many posts talking about the importance of copying the whole structure... not just the MTS files.

Since power director seems to let me edit MTS files without having any of the other bumf on the hard drive... do I still need them? If so for what? and if I dont need them... what the hell are they?

Cheers! :)
