Anyone know why this lens says "NOT for Digital" on B&H?

you can't mount a pre-ai lens on a lot of nikon DSLR's like the D90 without a mod with a file to the rear of the lens. I have a couple of pre-ai's that have been filed. here's a list of compatible lenses- http://www.panoramaplanet.de/comp/ the 3 nikons listed as ok are all pre-ai most ai and ai-s lenses are fine too. Only extremely wide angle lenses should be a problem.

Pre AI lenses need some milling or filing to fit on at all

then there is the specific geometry of that specific lens

it looks ok if you filed that tab off the back - esp on a 5d with an adapter which gives you another couple of mm

the mir link has an engineering drawing - you should be able to work it out
